ive got a 4" grinder here thatd do a fine job

what sort of customise are you lookin for its easy as to cut afew holes then glue mesh underneath cheap too

or for vents and the like try some of the bigger bodykit shops good place to start

then of course theres always the mighty internet stores garanteed to have sumit

Yeah that's what I'm discovering ;) went to see a few shops yesterday.. I shall stuff around with the piping tonight and see if I can get away without modifying the bonnet..

It will be a toss up between the cheapest way to go.. custom bonnet, whole fibreglass bonnet, custom piping/forward facing plenum.. the last option really steps away from the "stock" under bonnet look I was hoping to maintain but oh well.. you gotta do what you gotta do

could buy a buldge or something ba xr8 STYLE not the same but yer gettin that put on your your original bonnet wouldnt cost much. Are you looking to get more clearance for I/C piping or high mount orrr something else? or you could raise your bonnet at the rear with rubber washers so it is kinda on an angle depending how much room you need to make

Need to make room for the RB30 that is now under the hood :D at the moment it's hitting on the stock bov and the cooler pipe that goes over the fan and connects to the crossover pipe.

Going to try a 25det crossover pipe, that should buy me 20mm maybe and I'll get a couple of 45deg and a 90deg silicon bend and some more 2.5" pipe and attempt to get that pipe over the fan lower.. with a bit of fiddling I should be able to get it back down to where it was before the 30 went in.

ask fiber vision near dowd street in welshpool they do that kind of stuff

Fibrevision 38 Banksia Road, WELSHPOOL WA 6106 Ph: [618] 9458 8998 :(

Cool, I spoke to the guy at GT Fibreglass aswell - he put a BA bulge in a friend of a friends' EL bonnet. If my piping adventure isn't succesful I'll be ringing around :P

Whats been done to the 30?

Set of forgies and just running everything that was on my rb20, standard injectors, rb25 turbo etc. Will be running a bigger set of injectors and a z32 afm when it gets tuned in a couple of weeks.

known 'problem' with teh extra deck height of the rb30 in the 32's

if i remember rightly from what ive read the stock cross-over pipe should work with a 'massage' (ie read bash) of the reinforcing bars on the underside of the bonnet

It's not so much the crossover pipe that's the problem, the crossover pipe is no higher than the strut brace that I had to remove. It seems to be mainly the location of the rb20 bov, also hitting on cooler pipe across the top of the fan. Will attack it with some fresh piping

    • I definitely agree with you there - I never click on content for cars I would never ever be able to get or compete with/against/be seen next to. Seeing a MX5 compete with a FD RX7 will make people upset though, for sure. Even in 2.5L Turbo form which is pretty grass roots. (or at least as grass roots as classic cars can be) Yes we're all classic car owners now.
    • Wonder what the cause is, but here's hoping it's nothing too serious.
    • People don't always want builds that are overly expensive, or have engineering/registration/insurance issues and head aches that come with them Whilst big dollar builds, and complicated stuff is interesting to watch, there is only a tiny % of people who would actually use this information, or have the spare finances to drop on said builds, whereas the buy a cheap(ish) cool car, and make it better, with a average budget, that the average Joe or Jane could achieve will always be a winner in my opinion
    • Bit of a thread revival, you mentioned wanting a bit more top end before, do you regret not going with the 1.01?
    • It's kind of interesting - They definitely do builds that split the difference between what they like and what will generate views and engagement. The NC Platform always surprises everyone in a good way, in an uncomfortably good way some may say. They could throw a LS in there and arguably have the best (and best performing) car of the entire stable. But that isn't necessarily what draws views, because people viewing don't want to accept the vegetables of a LS NC MX5 being a superior vehicle in every way (including fun) than a RB26 240Z. This is also why there's not a lot of content about the GR Yaris (on the web in general). They're too good, yet 'only a Yaris' The community doesn't want certain cars to be as good as they are - to beat their hero cars, and I believe the NC MX5 is absolutely one of those cars.
