guys just quickly, iv got an R33 S1 GTST, now the stock thermal fan at the front, wen does it kick in or does it. Iv heard it supposed to kick in wen the A/C is turned on, but it is NOT activated by temperature levels. Mine doesn't activate wen i turn the a/c on at all, does this mean its not working???

let me know ur thoughts

cheers

it will only switch on when your a/c is on and you go ever a certain engine temp. the temp probe is the one screwed into the bottom of your radiator. you could check to see if the probe is plugged in. alternatively if you have or know anyone that has a consult cable and software you can do an active test where you switch it on through that.

yeah i believe it will come on with aircon when required.

on a side note, what happens when you put a fmic in front of that temp probe?

does it see temps as hotter and therefore turn on more readily? any adverse affects?

nah that a different probe. the one your taking about is the outside air temp. there is one screwed into the bottom of the radiator, so that when the coolant/engine temp gets to hot it switches on. the only time i've ever heard the fan come on was in the middle of summer and in really heavy city traffic.

so that thermo fan actually kicks in to control engine temps???

i thought it was purely for the aircon

thanks fellas.

to comment i would've assumed it should kick in at high engine temps like other cars.

but like mentioned above i was told purely for aircon. so even if the aircon is on it wont kick in until a certain temp??

these cars must hav good cooling...!!

yeah..thatur a/c fan..

does ur clutch fa come on??

if not...,thats wat i'll be worried about...

but for ur question lik a few people mention it should come o wen u press ur air-con...dependin on how hot it is aswel..if its required..

another question not related...

how people hear have done a clutch fan conversion to a thermo fan on a r33 skyline??

I will be converting to a 16" thermo fan as part of my RB30DET conversion. Fan will be spaced approx 30-40mm off the radiator and use the stock shroud. Fan opperation will be speed controlled using a picaxe micro controller and stand-alone temperature probe.

The whole process has been halted at the moment due to the x-mas break though...

you'd be better off using AU falcon thermo's and shroud and simply attach to your radiator and seal the edges.
