After I bought my R32 I noticed the upper control-arm bushes squeak on bumps. On the hoist I noticed that the bushes were new nolathane ones. I pulled them apart to regrease them and noticed that they were a very tight fit and had already been deformed by twisting. I fitted grease nipples and refitted them but after couple of days they started to squeak again.

I think the bushes are too tight as I had to flog them out with a hammer and punch and the inner sleeve might be a bit short and causing the bush flanges to bind. The flanges on the front bushes look squashed but the rear ones look OK.

Has anyone had the same sort of problem and if so, how did you fix it?

i have the exact same problem. They were put in by aparent suspension professionals, they started making that fantasic noise as soon as i drove out of their driveway!!!!! so i took it back. they replaced one of the bushes..... guess what it squeeked again. so third time lucky they tried to tell me the original manufacturing material had been changed so i decided to get them changed again under warranty.... the bloody thing still squeeks. i would save time and money and buy the original items from nissan and not so called suspension gurus!

schulzie Were the bushes they fitted Nolathane brand (orange colour)? I wouldn't necessarily blame the guys that fitted them.

Nolathane haven't been making bushes for the Skylines for very long and might still be refining the specifications. I'm going to try to get the story from them.

I rang Nolathane technical support this afternoon and found out that even though the bushes in my car are the same colour as theirs they are made by someone else. The technical support guy was very helpful though and told me that Nolathane make two types of control arm bushes for the Skylines. The original ones they made are a direct replacement for the factory bushes and the new ones (Part No.4544A IIRC) are adjustable for camber and castor and have only been available for a couple of months.

He reckons if they are greased in the right places they shouldn't squeak.

they are a sort of red color... they were fitted by fulcrum.....i dont know if they used their own brand or not, but apparently they are adjustable..... they would want to be as i paid nearly $800 for both them and radius rod bushes. It really only seems to squeek when their cold and at slow speed. Its just embarassing some times caus it sounds like an old shitbox XD falcon!

I'll get prices for the Nolathane adjustable ones tomorrow. I think I can get them through Repco and I'd expect them to be about $200. I'll fit them myself but it shouldn't take more than an hour or two plus a wheel alignment so I expect it would cost less than $400 all up if I paid to have it done.

I recently lubed up a dry poly bush that I have, and it squeaked maybe 10km (not 10,000km) after install.

I imagine this isn't supposed to happen with poly bushes or any. Piece of shit stuff lol. Used silicon grease from supercheap auto and I definitely put enough in because as I pressed in the bushing, thr grease came out.

Anyone else have this issue? I'm considering changing to rubber

Which bush, where, and how frayed was the surface that you put grease back onto?

J arm bushing. Surface itself seemed fine. Are you referring to the metal roller or the j arm inner surface? If so, i degreased that inner surface it seemed fine.

This is an R34, yeah?

I'd either just buy new bushes, or do what I have done (on R32) and go sphericals. I am having Stockholm Syndrome with my spherical bushes.

Yep r34. The bushings don't look all that old. I was going to get the nismo ones but a suspension specialist told me my car would veer left, and I'd need to put in adjustable camber arms to stop it + wheel alignment because the nismo ones are centered. He recommended that I keep my existing ones because they are camber adjusted. What are your thoughts?

This doesn't make sense unless your car is a bit bent in some way and requires adjustable arms to provide even camber left to right. What arms are on it?
