The Provisional Calander for the Dutton Series 2008 has been released starting this year in Vic.

No QLD round for 2008 (due to lack of facilities) but there is a round in New Zealand (TBC) .

Dates are as follows:

The 2008 provisional dates are:

Rd. 1 Victoria 16-18th May

Rd. 2 Western Australia 25-27th July

Rd. 3 North Island, NZ (TBC*) 19-21st Sept

Rd. 4 New South Wales 28-30th Nov

If the NZ round goes ahead I'm keen to get over there for it if I can find the funds. Sounds like an excelent adventure. :D

Will mostly likely be doing Vic and W.A. again regardless.

Now thats a road trip

How much would the transport cost?

Is it just me or does Dutton seem a bit pricey for the amount of driving you do.......

Yeah for that price, an entrant like myself where I'll be funding everything is going to make me bankrupt!

Looks like it'll be a few years now till I get to do the Dutton :D

Aza,

good idea, I think thats what I'll be aiming to do instead as well!

Two rounds is a Targa Tasmania entry gents, or a Suncoast Rally whatever. Real tarmac rallies, with heaps of competetive kays. Heck, I think Mt Buller is about 3G. 160 odd competetive klm.

One round is more than Targa Rookie entry..... win in your class and free entry to the full event the following year....... Snowy....... :nyaanyaa:

Yeah but my car has issues with Targa rules. Like it's way way way too illegal :nyaanyaa: And putting it to Targa Spec is a giant PITA since it pretty much means I need to change everything (oil cooler, turbo's, diffs, gearbox, exhaust, new set of rims, etc etc)

One day I will do Targa but it will be in a new car - not SMAUG.

But I figure until I have a Targa car I might as well have a crack at becoming the 1st World Tarmac Sprint Series (Duttons new name) World Champion hey. Will look good on the resume if nothing else if we can pull it off. :P

Unless you want to convince Dean to lend me his car next year Ben? :O

Haha, how 'bout we BOTH convince him and share driving/costs?

Yeah, I see and agree with your other points, guess I just get rail-roaded into the whole dollar v kilometre debate.

And yeah, that'd look pretty cool on the mantle :P

Still think the whole event would be better if we all go to drive GT2 Porches, and at the end of the event we give the cars back  Otherwise i think they are starting to ask a bit too much money for the average punter paying all the entry out of their own pockets in their road cars....i dont think there are that many "serious" competitors and therefore not the sort of support for a more hardcore series that isnt aligned with any other regs from other tarmac events.

meh not their problem. as long as they keep filling the field they will keep charging more because they can.

new name sounds like a real wank to me, hope you were joking andrew....

Haha - if you READ THIS you will see they mention a forth coming name change. That is the new name.

There has been a bit of work going on to try and take this series to the next level. Some of the plans I have been told sound pretty exciting including the desire to run a "super special" stage on the Saturday night in the form of an event like we have seen in the past for Prolog stages at George Town for Targa Tas and Marysville for Mt Buller. If they can pull it off and have a couple of "feature" events at each round I am sure the series will only go forwards.

And Gav - at this stage it looks like we'll be bringing the Blue car over west next year too.

gutted. the whole goal of my new N1 was to compete in Dutton. And now there isnt one in my backyard! QLD. :D

sucks hard. lol and those entry costs sure are going upwards!

I reckon we'll be back for the Vic round. It's a few weeks after Targa so we should be able to make it.

I dunno whether we'll be in the 34 again, or running Deano's R8. For some reason he seems a little concerned with me barrel rolling it down the back fence at Sandown.... Jeff Beable Porsche style.

Hours was spent on photoshop for this proposal for prospective future sponsors. Very similar to the effort by the Donut King R35 GTR effort you'd agree?

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
