What Do I Need For My Exhaust

I been Quoted from a exhaust store in Dande for a custom setup

2.5inch piping

madrel bent

oval resonator

hi flow cat

universal cannon x-force LP02

+ Coby d12 extractors installled

all for $820

??

ive got a cannon muffler for sale, brand new

after $30 for it.

2.5" inlet and i think 4" outlet.

can get pics if needed.

im paying $850

for extractors fitted

custom 2.5 inch mandrel bent stainless steel cat back

includes fitting and all gaskets/flanges etc.

around that is the price i think you have to expect to pay.

got quoted today for 2.5inch custom exhaust 850 installed at western mufflers. mild steel excluding extractors.

might get those coby ones from partsco.

anywho went to BEL and got quoted close to 1700 for the following

coby extractors $360 (get this myself)

bigger cat $440

HKS 409 (forget the name) exhaust 900 bucks

which should i go with?

will the custom setup give me the same performance gains as the HKS?

How big is the HKS 409?? what size piping

i tihnk its HKS 409 Hi power or something like that.

I reckon the custom exhaust unless your willing to put up twice that amount and go 1700.

but im not sure how good the hks hi power is.

you would be paying more for the metals used and the brand name.

hks would be stainless steel, who knows what the custom one is

the guy at BEL said they would need to cut off 6 inches though becuase it is an N/A

think i might go with the HKS one, bigger cat and get the extractors myself.

installation by myself probably.

$440 sounds a bit expensive for the cat - should be able to do better than that if you look around

Definitely fit it yourself, it's not hard if you have the right tools (basically just a good socket set and something to raise the car eg ramps/jack).

get a hiflow 3" xforce cat for $170 or so from justjap

i heard xforce gives you, i quote - "cancer of the ear" lol.

xforce mufflers will give you cancer of the ear

the cats wont as you wont really hear the noise the cat produces

you basically only hear the cannon droning away

its personal opinion really.

some people love the sound they make but i personally do not.

resonator will help with the droning.

I have r33 GTS4 n/a. with standard exhaust. I really wanna just put a canon muffler.

1. Got quoted $280 for Canon muffler + Instalation (Muffler is some cheap brand I guess?) is this price is right?

2. How loud will it be when I put this muffler? does it depends on how big it is? like 3" tip and 4" tip?

****I had a cat back exhaust system before 3.5" pipe and 4.5" tim canon muffler, went back to standerd as it was loosing power due to lack of back pressure. But now I need little bit nice beat in the car, not too loud, thats why I wanna put a reasonable cannon muffler (my cat back exuast system is for sale by the way http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...8#entry3582368)

the price is right if you are happy with the product, it's impossible for anyone else to judge without having a look at it. best you go to whoever is supplying you with it and inspect for yourself.

this is your typical "how long is a piece of string?" question. loudness will depend on what other components you have, the quality and material used in those other components and the cannon. mild steel? stainless steel? titanium? etc.

tip size does have some affect on how loud it is. as a very general rule of thumb, the bigger the tip the louder.

Finally got it all done yesterday!

and im happy with the results

the car pulls alot better through the rev range and i get more out of each gear.

as i went from mild steel to stainless cat back the car has a much nicer growl. before it just sort of droned then droned some more.

the car is alot more responsive which makes driving it a lot more fun!

the extractors smoked some what but because i had the wrapping and high temp paint on them the coby paint didnt come off..

ill put a sound clip up when i can be bothered..

end of the story.. im happy
