Yeah it has done quiet well. Especially the engines. some DA drivers are now using the LS1 and 2.

Although maybe one of the many reasons they are is because it will appeal to the Australian audience more

I guess what sometimes puts people off is not necessarily the car, but the hype that surrounds it. The Holden bandwagon, if you get what I mean.

Same goes for some people's opinion of Skylines.

Rotaries.

4 cylinders.

Etc.

One of the main reasons they remove RB's, 2JZ's etc is because LS1's are a lot lighter. Alloy block compared to a iron block.

Like the DLS R34 drift car, took out the RB25 Neo, chucked in the LS1, saved 50kg!!! Slapped some twin turbo's on it and you got a hell of a power to weight ratio over the stock engine setup.

lol right never seen one perform better in anything other than commo

Japanese cars with original Japanese motor always out perform the Japanese cars with ls1's etc fitted

kudas S13 with ls1 gets close but Im still not sold on it

are you kidding have you seen it ?

power and torque do not make a drift car

speed,balance and driver skill do

ever seen a d1 ae86?

heres a link to a vid with D1 r34 with rb26 t04z watch it and try tell me that the GT Autosound car has the same balance at the moment

Edited by 1400r

what do you mean by 'balance' exactly? if you mean overall performance, the GT autosound car might need a few tweaks, but they are things that can be ironed out. an RB26 with a to4z would be nice but i cant see it being comparable to a TT LS1. more power, more toque, probly a more 'driveable' car on the track if that makes sense. not to mention the bonus of reliabilty.... :P

Once they ironed out the problems I'll compare again

until then LS1 being a better engine than those factory fitted is unproven regardless of extra power, reliability etc if it doesnt drift well what does it

matter if it makes more power than a rb or is more reliable

(Im including all rb's as basically being the same balance split wise front to rear although a 26 would weigh more than a 25 if it still had the standard twins)

by balance I mean the whole car working in unison not just a car that makes big power so must be sick yo

in a well balanced drift car the drivers can through the car in much harder and get back on the power much sooner than those with poor balance

skylines are well know for mid drift midcorner understeer Im yet to see how a Ls1 which "weighs less" than a rb has helped at all with this

you still see alittle in the Kakimoto 34 above and its been competing for awhile so all the bugs should be ironed out of it

from all that Ive seen of the Gt Autosound car(and Ive seen a fair bit) it's a corner exit smoke machine

1400R hits the nail on the head! The GT autosound car isnt a good set up atm as the driver doesnt have anywhere NEAR the skill required to use all of the power to its full potential.. all ive seen from that thing is straight line smoke ups and corner exits.. its lame. Then theres the reliability issues!! Its had a few issues thats for sure.

my RB has had none :P

    • @joshuaho96 Hmm considering the drama you've seen/experienced, have you looked into getting a built complete long motor shipped from Australia?  Considering the AUD is basically monopoly money when compared to the USD, at a glance this seems like a good option?
    • Bloody Skylines, they put you through the bloody wringer! Stick at it! Stunning drag strip BTW! Where is it? Can see part of the name on the slip and probably should just Google it!
    • I mean the other day I had to walk someone through diagnosing why their timing belt was walking off the cam gears. At least one of the issues was a bent tensioner stud. Local mechanics have found runout on the CAS mechanism causing weird failures. I'm also no saint here I've documented some of the things I've had to learn the hard way. Something I discovered recently is that my CA emissions catalytic converters weren't even welded correctly to align the downpipe to the main cat and they tossed the support bracket that goes from the transfer case to the downpipe to support everything there. I spend a lot of time chasing down these decidedly unsexy problems and the net effect is it feels like I never actually get to the original objective (flex fuel, VCAM, oil control, cooling, etc).
    • At times with how you make everything sound, all I imagine Americans doing when they see a gtr is standing there looking at it and bashing it with a gun like how a caveman would with a club and hoping it fixes itself
