Yeah I agree with everyone so far, the front doesnt look quite right...Im sure you'll get used to it though. Definitely a very mean looking machine from the rear view. Dont know if I like the plastic engine cover that everyone seems to be adopting these days and would love to have seen a straight six in there but wouldn't say no to the current engine with its torque figures :thanks:

From what I can see in the pics, looks like it has a start/stop ignition button just below the gear shifter . And like sleepy said where the 100 mark is on the speedo....I hope no one thinks they are doing 40 and accelerate to where 100 would normally be :):( I also noticed that after 100, the increments go up in 30s....130,160,190,220,etc..does anyone know what they're top speed spec. is supposed to be?

Its a shame they wont have a full manual car, its just not the same experience with flappys. Still if I could afford one, I would definitely buy one :)

Cheers!

Seems the top speed claim is just shy of 200mph based on the latest info floating about. the 11.7 1/4 mile isn't shabby either, makes for a good modification platform in terms of a starting point. I wonder if they are using the variable vane turbo technology on this one?

Those numbers are still pretty optimistic.

The $80k is US pricing, which is just shy of what you'd pay for an M5 up there.

well, if you were to directly transpose the difference between here and there- you'd be looking at it costing over $200k here (like the B-M does)

but i know that it's not a direct comparison

Yawn....

I said before, this car will flop.

NISMO CAR'S FACTORY ZELE on route 129 in Sagamihara sells immaculate stock R34's for almost the same price as the rumored sticker price of this manufacturing cost cutting abomination of the name.

The GT-R badge is to acquire buyers. Bose speakers to further the idea that this car will be market to idiots with more money than brains. A Skyline GT-R 33 can be imported for less.

This car is made from existing assembly lines using recycled parts, nothing more than a G37 with different body work, twin turbo and ATESSA.

Lets reinvent an S-16 Silvia while we are here but give it the QR25DE motor with no turbo option and base it off the Sentra/Sunny.

Great work Mr. Ghosn.

Shhhh! the yanks are gonna be buying it by the bucketload cos they finally get a GTR. never underestimate the power of the common idiot.

back in the day the GT-R was made to represent nissan's foray into the racing world... this one's just a money grabbing exercise.

Dunno, how long have they been developing this car... it's been coming for years.

I think the front lip needs to be black under the grill like the Evo X. Still it won't matter on a black GTR.

How much crap is on the screen on the dash, choose your own gauges

And this is based on ????????

Obviously they've gone for a more plush interior to appeal to a wider market, but how do you know it's a money grabbing excercise. It's ALOT of car for the price. Working for J-spec you should know how much the R34 GTR was when forst imported, so personally I think (on paper) it's a great car for the money.

To date - performance figures and spec are mostly speculation, yet people are bagging it before a single review of the car.

The R32 became a cult car, it wasn't a cult car before hit production. The R34 shape was by in large labelled as hidious before it was released, yet most (including me) would sacrifice a nut or both for an R34 GTR.

I don't mind comments on appearance but those bagging performance need to maybe know what that perforamce is first.

Give it time people. Or did I miss the test day where SAU was invited to take it for a spin?

Love it or Hate it, you can expect a very long waiting list for people who wait until next year to order one.

The allocation to Australia will be very low as Nissan will be churning out cars for Japan,USA and Europe. I was told Nissan would fill the orderes on a fist in first sold basis, and they we will see 6 cars per month. I expect to see the wait times go over 2 years for the latecommers. This will also increase the value of the car and bring in the speculators. In the USA the apparently cancel the warranties of cars sold in the first year to stop this happening.

^^this is the exact person that nissan are NOT targeting with the new GTR

its not in the same vain as the R32/33/34 and its not targeting the same type of person that likes the R32/33/34 skylines, eg the person above who clearly wants a machine that they can mofidy to the shithouse and wants no luxury/high-class features in their racing machine

i expected a general shun from SAU because of this reason, so i'm actually surprised at the generally good reception that the pics have gotten so far..

as metnioned, the target is porsche and other high-end buyers with a free 100k to spend on cars. this is <0.01% of SAU forum members
