Hey

Thinking about getting a NINTENDO DS LITE, and have been trying to research about having them patched/hacked/chipped to play copied games.

Want to know what the go with them, can you burn/load games onto them or a memory stick, or is there some way of copying the original games?

Any help would be great >_<

Thanks,

Abu

Okay mate, I can definitely help you out here.

What you need to get yourself is an R4 DS cartridge. It's a cartridge that goes into your normal DS games slot that allows you to insert a MicroSD card. Once you do this, you can just drag on NDS game roms from any of the popular emulation sites on to the MicroSD and run them just like a normal DS game.

THERE IS NO PATCHING/HACKING OR CHIPPING REQUIRED!!! :P

Just buy the R4DS cartridge and a microSD and you're set!

You can buy one from HERE! They're always sold out, so put one on order. Usually takes a week or 2.

All that's left is to enjoy your 100% free and 100% working DS games, as well as music and movies. All thanks to a $50 cartridge >_<

Ah you legend, thanks heaps Chris.

I was looking for ages but couldn't find jack!

Just a question, how do you get games from computer to the SD?

Can you hook the DS Lite up to a computer?

Also, what do you think about that R4DS +2gb package for $90?

Thanks,

Abu

To transfer games, I just use an SD card reader. They're cheap and you can pick them up at any software/computer place. The MicroSD will come with an adapter that makes it normal SD sized. You don't need to hook up the DS Lite to anything, just take out card, put it in the SD reader, drag and drop the rom files on to the card, remove card from the reader and stick it back in the DS. >_<

The $90 package is pretty damn good. With a card that size, you'd be able to fit 20-30 games and their save files. I have a 1gb and currently hold 14 games.

Oh very very very good! Easier than I thought.

I got a SD card reader at home come to think of it, so that will work! :P

20 - 30 games will be plenty, where could I download the games from?

Thanks again Chris.

check out the r4ds kit at dealextreme.com also.. pretty good value.

dslite with r4ds rocks.

Too right, I use THIS SITE to find mine. But you can just google "Nintendo DS roms" or something and any site will do.

Thanks man, will have a look at them when I get home.

I've personally never dealt with dealsextreme.com, and for some reason I can't load the page. But yeah, Ozmodchips are really reliable and you'll get an english r4 with the latest firmware from them. I just bought one for a mate from them >_<

Oh ok mad.

I can pay it off my credit card but I don't use paypal. How do you make payment with them?

ive got a little over 1000 games if u want some abu

Thanks Ni, will take you up on that.

Oh ok, might just get the R4SD then and get the MicroSD separate.

I think I got a microSD card somewhere at home from my last phone, 1gb if I am not mistaken.

Is there a store or somewhere I could buy the R4DS from? I hate waiting for shipping/postage >_<

dont know of any in Melb...

Damnnnn!..

Could probably get it from some dodgy stall at the market, but who can be fkd going to the market.

See if anyone else knows, if not then I guess I will have to order it tonight from Ozmodchips and just wait it out.

    • Tape some wool onto the vent then take it for a drive I did this to my reverse cowl and was instantly unhappy, as anything over about 60kph would have the wool enter the engine bay, thus just adding underbonnet pressure and stooging my coolant stack, it did let alot of heat out when stationary though, which really didn't help once the car was moving, with the reverse cowl you could watch the coolant temps cheap up the faster you went on the hwy, I assume it would be alot worse doing track day speed With the vented bonnet (just after the radiator and about 1/3 up the bonnet) on my old R33 the wool on the leading edge sat at about a 45° angle as air poured out of it From looking where your vents are, and their size, I believe you should be fine at speed and air should be evacuated from the engine bay, I think it will be a night and day difference when stuck in traffic though for removing the trapped heat, and not sitting there cooking when parked up after driving around... #convection  Post wool tuft pics and data for science  This beastie is one nice and unique rig, enjoy
    • It is possible to do this stuff for "cheap". But you need to be able to get deals on all the bigger items, and it really helps if you're fully capable of doing your own work. As soon as you're paying retail for new parts, or buying "kits" because you can't fabricate necessary bits and pieces, and if you really need someone else to take the reins of doing the work because you don't have the space/time/skills/confidence to  rip deep into the car and put it back together in a working fashions.....then you pay. And these days, pay means a lot of money. You'd think things would get cheaper, but they don't. They just seem to keep getting more and more expensive.
    • It’s almost the price of an engine build, you won’t have anything to bolt onto it though
    • Hopefully it's enough to help with the temps! I was also only shit stirring, regarding Murphy's Law basically. I've found, what ever spare parts I have, are the parts I don't break. Ever. Also have never had issues with oil/spinning bearings until I put oil pressure gauges on the car. 😛
