i'm looking to buy some coilovers with 12kg front and 10kg rear spring rates, has anyone here had experience with these as im interested in how stiff they would be, the coilovers also have 32 damper adjustments, so say the spring rates are too stiff, could you soften them up by using the damper adjustments, thanks in advance, the car would be mainly for street use by the way

Yeah depends how tolerant you are towards these kinda things.

For street use would be a bit too stiff IMO, and would make driving it daily a bit of a pain.

Not to mention if you are into hill runs and the like, a car with these will handle worse on uneven roads than stockies. The bumpiness will throw the whole car off balance as the suspension wont really absorb the bumps well.

It's likely the shocks will not be able to cope with the huge spring rates.

also, there is virtually no way the shock can "adjust" the springing - it only adjusts the damping.

to adjust the springs, you will have to change the springs.

WAY OTT for the road.

try someting more like 6 and 4 for a GTR for road use

Way too high, why would you want high spring rates in what is mainly a daily driver? Look into normal lowered springs, upgraded shocks and some swaybars to control the roll. Dont try and control roll with springs, especially not in a daily driver!

Might i ask why you're looking at such high spring rates for a daily driver?

i'll agree with most of them here that you should go with lower spring rate. Especially since you're driving a GTST.

i'M not wanting to start another thread, so here goes..

1. Has anyone had any experience with Buddy Club Jr Spec Coilovers? How are they like? will be running it in a Silvia

2. I've heard/read that HKS Hipermax Performers have pretty bad shocks. Anyone able to explain furthur aside from the ride being too stiff?

3. Which would be better? Greddy Type-s Coilovers or these Buddy Club ones

Thanks

I own a R32 GTR and just installed brand new TEIN Monoflex coilovers, they run front 7kg and rear 7kg with 32 point damper adjustment, and i can say that they are absolutely brilliant with about 4 inch of Base height adjustment to come down so that the springs stay same height.

They are still comfortable on softest setting car is shit loads more rigid with alot less body role.

Mind you i have them 3.5inches lowered rolling on 20inch rims hehe so anything smaller in rim size would be perfect also, good luck but i swear buy Tein all my mates have had them for years and tracked there cars heaps and no problems.

im running Tein HAs ATM with s pring rate of Front: 9 and Rears : 8 and its good and dont forget its a stagea. I had the valving swapped to Oz specs by fulcrum suspension. And its firm but nice. The car feels like its stuck to the road when going on rough roads. I had the damper set to the softest on the fron and 3 clicks from the softest at the rear

can i ask how much it was for your HA's to be revalved by fulcrum?

  • 3 weeks later...

i've just installed some

tein circuit master type RA into my r33 with 10kg front and rear spring rate (racing springs as tein call them), i have yet to drive the car yet (due to not having a gearbox) but once i do, i will let you know what the ride is like.

i had previously had d2 coilovers which had a huge spring-rate and i found it drivable in street-condition abit bumpy and i got uses to it

    • Update Issues 5 (plus #4) - 10 After making a claim about issue #4's missing part, DeAgostini Japan sent a whole new issue #4 and it arrived about 2 weeks after that. That was back in early March. It took another 4 weeks to receive issues 5 - 13 though. This update is for issues 5 - 10. Ove the 5 issues the front left suspension and most of the engine have been completed. The quality of the castings and fit of the parts is quite good, it seems better than DeAgostini's BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the Fast & Furious 2 movie, which (to me anyway) doesn't seem to have as tight tolerances or quite as accurate castings.  Each issue has a lot of info about the 1989 - 1993 Skyline range and other Nissan models from that era, but the focus is on the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo and the various racing it did in Japan, Europe (Spa 24hrs) and of course Australia. I've included some text translated with Google Lens in some photos and will add to them if there's anything worth including.
    • If it's for a SR20, make sure it's not the American Poncams, might as well call them Poocams. Had a set in a friend's car, all scuffed up after a few track days. Like the metallurgy Tomei USA used is junk. Went back to JDM OG Tomei Poncams, no issues till now.   Tomei USA is not the real OG Tomei.   Random rant over, fk the US of A, bunch of c u n t s.
    • Most of the industry in North America either runs on Siemens or Allen Bradley. I have two redundant S7-1500's on my desk right next to me for simulation. Siemens has been losing ground though since Stuxnet, as cybersecurity is a big thing. In my line of work that is federally regulated, you must by law have a cybersecurity management program in place and its audited and inspected every so often.  I work with Emerson PLC's daily (RX3i's) and have done large biogas/refinery projects with their DCS's. Their PLC's are somewhat OK minus the way they do PLC redundancy (You have to download on both PLC's separately every time you make a change )  As for their DCS's... you'll be limited financially first before anything else stops you. Costs are exorbiant at roughly 10x what it would cost you to do with any other system (e.g AB PAC).  1990's, those suckers are brand new haha! Kraft-Heinz (An old client when I use to work for an ESP) still runs Siemens TI505 PLC's from the mid 80's. Ohh how I don't miss working with those... you could only do a certain number of online downloads until it's "Change" buffer would be full and you would then need to go offline to do a full download. There was no warning of when this was coming up and it generally would happen when you would go in at 2am to make changes before production -_-.
    • Unfortunately, not only is that not the case, one of the main "Selling points" of safety over comms is they clearly state in writing that there's no need to segregate safety networks from non-safety networks. It always gets intermingled with everything else on an ICS/OT network.
