Protex Performance Ceramic Brake Pads

hey everyone.

can someone help me out by finding out about this PROTEX Performance Ceramic Brake Pads? are they any good? i just need something that will do the job.. don't need performance brake pads as they are way out of my budget.

another thing is that don't really know whether this will fit my r33 skyline... the model No. is PROTEX Performance Ceramic Brake Pads db1165c.

i searched internet for about two hours and can find protex catalogue or anything... so if anyone happens to have the part number for r33 from protex or know that db1165c is for r33, please let me know... that would be much appreciated...

Well, a quick Google search revealed the following for DB1165 pads:

SUIT NISSAN BLUEBIRD U12 ZX,ZXE EFI ENGINE 1989 ON

U13 2.0L ENGINE 1993 ON

U14 1996 ON

Generally, Skylines use DB1170 pads in front, DB1220 rear.

Hi mate,

What are your requirements? If you're not specifically after performance pads, Lucas are dirt cheap, and good enough to win state rallying titles on. Above that you've got the usual horde of performance pads like EBC, Ferodo, QFM etc. Protex in general, be it their standard or performance range have always been good value for money, just a little harsh on rotors...

Any ABS Store sells them, and some other parts outlets as well. I've found that even with a $7 airbag I've been able to do them for less than most others anyway... If you get stuck trying to find somewhere let me know.

i worked at ABS. i hate protex. they are crap would not reccomend them at all. lucas all the way

Yep, but since they banned asbestos, that's the trade off with most pads. The only performance pads that don't produce a lot of dust is the QFM HP-X. Although not as good as the Lucas (650vs550) it is still as good as Bendix Ultimate, and easily enough for most road cars.
