Crap.

Didn't wanna start a shit fight. I think DSG has it's merits faster etc. etc.....maybe they should have another option...sequential stick shift just to go the middle ground =D

New GTR is expensive as...180k? Seriously??

I always thought the Veyron wasn't geared for the 1/4? Hence the "slow" times. Their top speed/stability is impressive though (about as shocking as the price tag)

The times quoted for the Veyron 1/4 range from low 10's, up to 10.8 max.

Even at only 10.8, that still makes it (by a fair margin), the hardest accelerating production supercar of all time.

So if that's "slow", what is everything else?

Why are ppl saying 180k?

Its 80k in the US prolly around 120k here

120K..,put me down for 1 please.

Plus I get a discount on top....because I have bought so many of them...lol.

mate, it's time to let it go. They're not going to be $250k like you thought, they are not going to be $200k like you thought, and they are definitely not going to be $180k like you think. PERHAPS, the TOP track spec version, with ceramic brakes, CF roof/bonnet/cup holders will be pushing $180k (ie, COMPLETELY optioned out ONTOP of the top version) but your run of the mill GTR is looking to be $120K-$140K

its not about having a slower or faster car. At least not for me anyway. Im a purist... is that OK with you?

soon you guys will be saying " i applaud the use of automatic driver assistance everything...all i have to do is sit there. its the way of the future..."

agreed. who cares if the evo is quicker then a gtst? i get 10x more fun out of punting my rwd manual hard then a semi-auto, driver assisted, etc....

the GTR buyer should be given the option of traditional or paddle shift gearbox - would keep everyone happy :)

The discussions were if I am not mistaken, that the gtr was on the wrong end of 150K.

Thus above 150K..

Correct me if I am wrong..but most who have made deposits have been told this...

considering the Japanese yen and Aussie dollar are virtually neck and neck at the moment, going from ¥8,000,000 yen which its supposed to be priced, to $120~150,000 is quite a big bloody jump.

private import investors anyone?

The Veyron is fast But Not the Hardest Accelerating Production supercar of all time!. Please stand corrected!

Behold the RWD Koenigsegg CCX

Acceleration: 0-100 km/h (0–62 mph) 3.2 seconds

Top speed: 395+ km/h (242+ mph)

Standing quartermile: 9 seconds, end speed 235 km/h (146 mph)

So what will the tuning houses like Nismo, Top Secret, Mines etc etc etc. be able to do with such a high platform!?

The other GTR's seemed as though they were purposly built with "tunability" in mind..

Once the thuning houses get their hands ahold of this.. I feel that 1000kw will become something of a bit of a norm.

how do you improve on such a highly developed car? Even when you do.. 997 Turbo's will seem like Lada's compaired to the GTR

I dunno why but I found this amusing.

Polyphony, creators of Gran Turismo, was contracted to develop the multifunction display which can log dozens of parameters. (Photo by Barry Hayden)

Does this mean I just hit the "restart level" button (I'm sure it's got one) if I prang the car? :D

Actually the fastest is the SSC Ultimate Aero TT.

The quickest in everything else including acceleration and stopping would be the Ultima GTR.

Both cars use a twin turbo Chev V8, so pretty basic engine. The SSC har over 1000hp which is important for top speed runs while the GTR has around 740hp.

If the R35 GTR is on thw wrong side of 150K nissan will have a problem moving them, considering Audi will be releasing the all new V10 twin turbo RS6 with 450KW @ 1900kgs for the princely sum of 245-250K, and that pricing is already confirm.. So it will be interesting to see how far Nissan OZ is prepare to rip the general Oz motorist of. Yes I know ther is about 100k think resale, Lesser of a HOON image.

As for DSG or Ferrari F1, once you driven a well sorted system, you will be thinking, never a H shift pattern again, Period!!!

I rather have a hennessy viper than either of those two. The SSC and Ultima's have poo interiors for the mega dollar price tag. And they are powered by a chev :)

    • Let's hope that's not a copy pump either. There were so many copies of them back in the day.
    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
    • Yeah, really happy with how it all turned out As for aftermarket lip, nah, I'm not really a fan for practically reasons on a street car that gets driven everywhere  I did have the full lower kit on my 2015 STI, but found the front lip scrapped alot, even at stock 4x4ish ride height As the NC sits now, with the lowest point of the car at 110mm, so just legal, some steep driveways and steep speed humps will still "just" scrap those little plastic OEM air dam thingies on the undertray just before the front wheels
    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
