Hey guys

Just installed a Haltech E6K, and are having some serious issues. We are trying to run 12 PSI of boost but evry time it hits around 5000RPM it is running like an absolute dog, Splutterin and poppin. we are now running a Map sensor. Can someone please help

Yeah they are set at 1.2mm i was lookin at purchasin a new set of 0.8mm Platinum plugs, what would u recommend?

I recommend NOT buying platinums until you get the plug settings right with cheap copper plugs first.

big 10-4.

Had the same misfire (4-5k on the tacho). NGK coppers @8mm sorted it easy.

What about heat settings for the plug though? Should I mayb go an 8 or stick with a 7?

start with a 6 gapped small, move to a 7 with a larger gap if you want to play around. 8's are good for race meets only with a suitable gap of around 1mm or so.

I'm running 7's with a larger gap as opposed to a small gapped 6, it is better for power once you have boost and suits my driving style.

Thanks, if Standard NGK copper plugs fail is it worth lookin at coil packs? I really dont want to as I have spent heaps already

one of the haltech units has been know to kill skyline coil packs.

It might pay to change the plugs first anyway. Generally when a coil pack fails there is no sufficient spark at any rpm and that shows at low rpm as well.

Cool thanks will give it a go, just trying to avoid having to purchase extra coil packs thats all. At the moment it is hard to tell as well as the Computer has not been fully tuned. Cold starts and the Fine tuning of the computer have not yet been completed. All I know is it drives like an absolute dog. Is it safe to drive?

If the mixtures are 'unknown' and you have missfires, then it's not good to drive it.

If the 'rough' tune is a nice safe rich fuel map then it's probably ok, like the mechanic said. If it's just fine tuning that is required further.
