We have a number of rb series engines running autronic cdi systems and to date have not had one failure of a coil one in particular produces 695hp still running standard coils. Unlike conventional electronic ignition systems a cdi fires the pos side of the coil (not neg)with around 500v very short duration,so the coil doesn't need time to charge up,so multiple discharges will work.

what is the difference firing the positive side to firing the negative side mort?
