It should be safe, depending on the condition of your turbos. No one can say when its going to break, its mechanical, but common sence says 14psi is safe for stock turbos. My mate has an R33 GTR, stock turbos, just fitted apexi pod filters, cam gears and power FC, is also running apexi AVCr boost controler. Now he runs 21psi through stock turbos, has been for the last 6-7 years that he has owned the car. I took the car down to CRD for him to have the cam gears fitted and tuned, Jim almost fell out of the car when he saw what boost he was running, with stock turbos, I said, "Well thats what he always runs." which is true, car made 260awkw at 21psi. Jim turned it down to a safer 19psi and the car made 250awkw, now this is still well above what recomended and regarded as safe for stock turbos, but like I said he has been running this ammount of boost since he bought the car about 6-7 years ago and the car still runs perfect. Car is an R33 V spec. Its quick, people say it will break, but it hasnt yet and he flogs the shit out of it. So its like I said, its mechanical you just dont know when it will break, you just have to be prepared to fix it when it does, but the amswer to your question is: You are running the highest recomended boost level for your turbos.

The power level sounds about right.

While its 'normally' ok, running 14psi through stock turbos on an 89 model GTR is asking for trouble.

Blitz, why is it not ok to run 14psi on an 89 model as aposed to other models???

i picked up my car today and my mechanic said my blitz dsbc is not that good, he said they are normally a good boost controller but my one isnt the best he says, on my dyno sheet the boost level is not dead straight, its spiking on the dyno from 15 to 16psi, what should i do, he said get a new boost controller(just the unit itself) so please guys does anyone know where i can get just the unit from, i also want the newer stlye blitz dsbc, i already got the solenoids so dont need them but just ned the unit asap please guys,

cheers people and thanking everyone for the help

Dont know if you can get htem sepertly, might have to buy the whole unit again unless you find someone who is selling a second hand part. I just bought a Blitz i-colour dsbc new from Japan $650 posted, my sister is over there at the moment, I thought I was getting a bargin till my phone bill arrived!!! at over $150 in calls to Japan!!! Anyway SUch is life, i guess. Good luck. I would first check that it is connected properly 1st and if it is and there is a still a problem then you should probably just buy a new one. Just take it easy till it is all sorted. Goodluck

you took it to a shit tuner man. i took my car there and dom told me 13 psi is safe as a house on my car. 2 weeks later the stock turbo blew.

and he told me my stock fuel was maxing out at 173rwk. what a joke.

i took my car with the same fuel pump to get dyno'd 6 months ago at creatd motorsport and i got 209rwk.

creatd ftw :nyaanyaa:

yer i know rob at creatd mait, good mates with him, nar dominic is pretty sweet mait, the boost controller is faulty is all he said and he said get a new boost controller and it will be perfect because its not the 1st time his tuned my car ive always took my car der,yer creatd are pretty good but i wil rather protek with the gtr or even racepace is sweet on the gtr

Lol, 13psi is pretty safe man.... stock turbo's do blow unfortunately there life is not infinite...

and my af ratio was 9:1 when protek done the tune. thats why the fuel pump was "maxing out"

13 wasnt safe for me especially after doing some research. i got a series 2 liner= crap turbo

    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
