shajar
Any ideas, what do you guys think is a fair price to do a full tune on my SAFC-II that is already installed but all set to default in a 96 R33 GTS-T. I've been told it can take a while and some other people have mentioned as little as an hour on the dyno. Have had a quote of "around" $270. cheez
most tuners charge 250 for the first hour on a dyno. it shouldnt take longer than that. i had my safc2 installed and tuned by re customs in melb for 200 flat. Strik3r
i paid $200 to get mine tuned by Matt Spry... $250 is the most i'd pay... $300 seems very over the top if its already installed. its a 1 hour job on the dyno. shajar
Ok the reason I asked is someone else had their's tuned recently at the same workshop for $220 so that's the sort of price I was expecting but whenI went to see them they upped the price saying it was too cheap and he should've been charged more..... I might go get another mechanics opinion. Unfortunately there is only a choice of 2 that I know of in Cairns, QLD. PM-R33
I got charged over $300 to tune the SAFC in my car and the car had massive missfire problems because the standard coilpacks couldn't handle the extra airflow from the bigger turbo. So at the end of the day no tune was actually done on the car due to this, yet it still cost me over $300........... Wasn't to happy..... ix9
In perth it's loads cheaper, i got mine done for 50bux once, then another was 100, the gf got hers done for 120, and recently an entire timing/fuel/safc tune was $160. Food for thought on what really takes 15-20mins on the dyno Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/190359-how-much-is-a-fair-price-to-pay-for-tuning-my-safc-ii/#findComment-3428945 Share on other sites
SECURITY
tuners just hate doing them. just because they quote you a high price it doesnt mean that its the going rate. someone who is more comfortable doing it will charge less than someone who has less experience or is less comfortable doing them. when my old man asks me to price up a job but isnt really worth our time/effort, i just jack the quote up to something that will make it worth my while if they're silly enough to tell us to go ahead with it. it doesnt mean that its going to cost me that much to do the job. its just better than saying, 'no, i dont want to do it' to the client. going rate is around $200-220 for a safc tune. they dont do much and it should only take around 30-40mins. installation is around $50 but you can do this yourself.
