im yet to find one decent a/c regas place

everyone i have ever dealt with turned out to be complete f**kheads

i want someone who does just the gas

id rather change all the seals myself, at least that way

you know it gets done, especially when your being charged for it

rowville auto elecs do a/c gas

i recommend staying away

  • 3 weeks later...

Ended up going to a NATRAD (of all places), mainly because it was conveniently close by, and a needed a lift to drop off and pick it up.

all up it cost me 140

-this included testing it with dye to check for leaks

-i think replacing seals if needed.

-and then regasing it with R145a (think thats what it is)

-rplacing a/c oil (which was empty)

all up took a little over an hour and there were no extra km's on my odometer.( you write them done when filling out details) :) Very happy with the result

justin911- depending what the issue is i think it slowly just stops working. i brought mine with no a/c so... but the reason why mine didnt work was because there was no oil or a/c oil (whatever he told me)

guy said it blows at 2 degrees. which i guess i would agree as it blows super cold. But then my old man was telling me that A/C units can only blow 8 degrees cooler than the outside temp. Anyone confirm this??

cheers

Would depend on if u've got it on re-circulate or not. Re-circulating the already cold air inside will blow even more colder etc...

They put a thermometer at the vent to check the temp which (from memory) is between 4-8c when its just been refilled. So urs sounds about right....

Mine seems to be okay, I think ill test it with a thermometer as if its possible for the aircon to work better than it does, id like to get it done prior to summer. Very useful thread.

Ah theres a few around. www.natrad.com.au

I live in the North East Subs so there was one real close by on Para Rd, Montmorency. not far from Greensbourogh Plaza

I had mine done at NATRAD in Epping this avo. He said the temp at the vent was -1c !!!MINT!!! ...my dream of door to door cold meat sales is coming together! :nyaanyaa:

haha should modify your air vent so you can put a beer or scotch and coke can in it!

What did you pay for the re-gassing mate?

somewhere in aircon system there will be an extra thermostat to regulate how cold it actually gets

i used to work for an autoelectrician and he turned his thermostat right down in his ford bronco

he could get icicles forming on his air vents lol, so i dont think the 'only 8 degrees cooler' thing is true

for those of you getting your a/c re-gased, its a good idea to run the a/c for a few mins every coulpe of days

during the cooler months to keep all the seals 'wet' so the gas dosen't leak out from not being used

The coils in most cars can do 10 C Delta ^T if the system is running at design conditions. This means that if the return air going on to the evaporator coil is 30 C then the air off the coil will be 20 C. The air off temp will drop with the heat load. Eg, air on 20 C air off 10 C.

Was $150 coz he needed to change something to run the R134a gas as its pre-1996 or something; the adaptor/valve i think??? And did the whole leak test etc... Otherwise it was $125 without the adaptor.

When i got the car over a year ago there was no gas or valves in it (which i believe they do when importing it?) so i was a lil worried if it was alrite so he said to just pop in in a week and he'll go over it and check it over for free, so i was pretty pleased with the customer service.

yeah my guy at Natrad said the same thing.. havent been back and its been to 2weeks. seems all still fine
