Hi there,

Well, it was bound to happen, the fence decided to attack the front bumber of my S2 Stagea. I wasn't driving, it was the missus.

I'm looking for a bit of touch up paint in the form of a pen or small pot, whatever is best to cover up a couple of 3cm x 2cm scrapes on the corner of the bumper. Will i be able to find something in repco or autobarn? It's sonic silver right?

I've searched all those stores and bought 3 different silvers, none of which match

I think you need to go to a paint store and get them to make up some

Hmm... that's not good...

Any reputable auto paint supplier should be able to mix it up for you and put it in a pressure pack.

(KR4 has a few variants so be careful)

Is KR4 the paint i'm looking for then?

There's a definite slight Pewterish tint to the silver isn't there.

Depending on how big the scratches are, either just brush touch it up, or get a pressure pack, some plastic primer and some clear. Practise on something else first.... If the colour is right, it's possible to get it virtually invisible on a bumper corner. If the colours even slightly off, it'll look sh#thouse so go to a specialist autopaint shop, ie not autobarn repco etc.... I've done this a few times for people and charged them good money for it..... and I'm not a professional painter. Pm me if you want some tips :turned:

Hey yeah thanks for that, was wondering myself what the "Z" was, thought it might be some sort of shade or something.

Got some good tips from TimHeather too, will hunt for some paint this weekend.

I think you will find the "Z" is the interior colour spec, so not related to the paint, might confuse the paint guys so thought it was worth mentioning...

Nah... my driveway would eat that bar! Looks sweet though.

Or... You could just leave it slightly scratched, (pics?) and swap with me for my Dolphin Front Bar - already painted Sonic Silver! Let me know! Read my Thread!
I got some touch up paint in a small bottle with brush from local Nissan dealer - they needed a few days to get it in but it matches fine.

Cost about $12 or so, from memory

Yeah? Would they have Sonic Silver, being import and all?

They do have it as that is what I got, since mine is Sonic Silver

Just give them the paint code and they should be able to get it for you

Spoke to a large Nissan dealer in Adelaide and they said they don't and couldn't get the paint. Which dealer did you get yours from? Might have to get 1 sent.

  • 3 months later...

Anyone know where I could find some QT1 touch-up paint in or near Adelaide (SA) ?

...can you even get the pearl white in touch up? Kind-of an interesting finish, all metal-flake and all, don't know if you can 'can it'? :)

bought in japan...

I thought x-trail might have come out in QT1 ?? Nissan usually sell touch up paint. If you were in brissie you could help yourself to mine.

Cool... is that Holts? Maybe one could order some through a Holts dealer in SA... hmm

Edit: going to try Nissan supplier... soon as I get the name off my compliancer

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
