R33 Gts-t Rear Shock Removal

I have a series 1 R33 GTS-T.

When i reverse up the driveway i can hear a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the top of the right rear shock. I checked that all the bottom of the assembly is tight so it seems to be the top nut / nuts have come loose. I removed the carpet panels from inside the boot and can see the surround where the shock would sit inside but cannot find a rubber to remove to tighten the top nut / nuts. I searched through these forums and found 1 reference to it but it was based on an R32.

It looks to me like i may need to remove the back seat, then the parcel shelf to get to it?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

yep, rear seat out, and the tops are under the parcel shelf.

no problem.. alternatively you can smash the rear window and rip out the parcel shelf... thats how i removed them when my car was written off.

After reading the "Skyline R33 Rear Seat Removal Pictorial Guide" (minus pictorial!!!) it might be easier to smash the window!

its not *that hard*...

undo the bolts in the bottom of the seat, then the bottom will unclip (with a bit of force, i usually stick my breaker bar though the loop, and give it a pull upwards),

undo the bolts in the bottom corners of the top of the seat, and it will lift up and off,

then the parcel shelf should just lift off, and you are done.

Takes about 5 minutes to have the whole back seats and parcel shelf out once you've done it a few times. Trickiest bit is getting the seat base out of the clips if your afraid you'll break something.

My advice is to have a crowbar and dont be afraid to break the clips as they wont.
