Ok after replacing the blown RB20 with a fresh one I can't change into 2nd or 5th at high revs..

Generally a bit harder than it used to be to choose any gear even stationary at idle. Noticed this straight after engine was bolted up still on the jack stands - Didn't think much of it at the time.

I noticed funky monkey had problems with a 'snapped release pivot'... Any idea's would be great

yeah because the clutch is a lot heavier it tends to snap the pivots or forks... its easy to check though, just get under your car and peer thru the inspection hole on the side of your gearbox.

did you use the thrust bearing that came with the OS Giken box or a factory one?

Is the thrust bearing the bearing in front of the clutch fork on the input shaft?.. If so then whatever it was we re-used, and was working perfectly before we bolted the new engine up.

I'll need to get hold of a jack.. what exactly am I looking for through this inspection hole?

Help is appreciated thanks

this is a broken pivot:

or a bent fork or something like that.

OS Giken thrust bearings are a bit narrower than the standard ones, as the pressure plate is a little different (a new bearing should've come with the kit). If you were to use a standard nissan one it might not contact with the pressure plate properly and therefore cause problems disengaging.
