Here's what I don't get. Is that lap time with the model they're releasing now (the 353kw version)? Or the stripped out, higher powered model that they're talking about releasing in the future (the Evo model as it's been referred to)?

I.e. has it the potential to go a lot faster?

Thats the 353kw unit doing the 7:38.

It might go faster on a completely dry track, 7:38 was with some wet areas of the track.

Thats fast enough at any rate to give it some cred.

I'm surprised there is no mention of Ferrari or Lamborghini on that list. Also, most of the field on that list is RWD, probably to save on weight I'm guessing. I wonder how the GTR would go with only RWD only to save on weight. Just goes to show that AWD won't necessarily get you around the track quicker, maybe corners though. It's still a bit disappointing that the GTR weighs so much. How much does the stripped out version weigh though?

I'm surprised there is no mention of Ferrari or Lamborghini on that list.

Because they are not fast enough. The quickest was 7:40 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 WAY slower than a Porsche GT2 and of course R35 GTR! http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThrea...73&bottom=0

I cant believe no one has commented on this before. That was a total CON!!!

The Bridge to Gantry looks something like this

no compare the START/FINISH to the Nissan GTR

Sorry guys but the lap's not valid, even when you discount the fact that Nissan wasn't using a production car and an independent tester.

AFAIK for all timing they don't count the pit lane area when doing laptimes.

Prove it wasn't a production car.

Anyway I have no idea what you have against the GTR. I've read through the GTR thread at http://www.ls1.com.au and even there most of the guys there are really impressed and like it.

the three used in nurburgring aren't production persay, they're development cars.... which nissan tweaked and tuned to optimise the settings which would then theoretically be transposed onto the production cars... whether or not that happens is up to the manufacturer.

thats hilarious. Not only does someone have WAY too much time on his hands, the figures themselves tell an amazing story.

The R32 lapped the ring 6 hundredths slower than the current model!!!

LOL, how long ago was that lap time for the R32 now??

geez, must be going on 15 years!

what is the story here?!

Look you mint not like what im saying and thats totally understandable, but that lap isn't how European publications time their laps. Even Jeremy Clarckson and Sabine (scary German chick) uses the bridge to gantry timing method.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg4a1rc4Xjk

Just by looking at the GTR video, you would clearly notice that the lap was incomplete.

Exactly thats why some publications even go as far as buying/renting a showroom car just to test them. Even if they used the setting for production models, you have to remember that these three development cars have been tuned individually (unlike the cars that come straight off the production line).

Not bad for a over-weight whale that drags the ass and fits 2 large adults up front and maybe 2 little ones in the back.

Don't forget the GTR is the same size as a Monaro or maybe even bigger.

1750kg sure hurts though...suppose I will just gave to loose 50kg to go faster....

:P
