Chrome rim repairs

Guys i need help! i damaged my chrome rims and everywhere i have rang doesnt fix chrome!!!

Does ANYONE know where i can take my rims to get them fixed!

sorry dude, ive just purchased a set of big chromies, and before i bought them, the wheel guy warned "IF YOU DAMAGE THEM, YOU HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER WHEEL OR LIVE WITH THE DAMAGE, AS NO BODY IS ALLOWED TO CHROME WHEELS IN AUSTRALIA!" i have no idea why, he said something to do with pollution??@! wtf...??

ie if you damage a lip, you cant fix just that area of damage, you have to get the whole wheel chromed again, which noone does, apparently. I dont see why you couldnt just go to a place that does chroming- surely if you pay them enough....

SLY i got the same response from EVERY SINGLE rim repairer!!! They all said they cant do anything about it and ill just have to live with it or chuck my rims out!!! considering i have VEILSIDE rims i was like F OFF!!!!!!!!! i refused to believe that they couldnt repair a hunk of F'in METAL!!

anyway i took it to a certain rim repairer and they said they will be able to fix it! so fingers crossed we'll see what happens! If the job is good, ill let everyone know who they are!

Anyway if anyone out there knows of any repairers that can do chrome PLEASE post here, or PM me with their details!

You should be able to get the rim repaired normally, and then have it chromed later by any place that specialises in that area. I think they're playing excuses because they don't generally work with them.

Otherwise speak to a place that does specific chrome repairs - there are some around.. Even one that does things like repairs and restorations on chrome bumpers and things for older classics should be able to apply the same techniques to wheels, even if they don't specifically advertise it.

Actually, I just had a look..go to www.yellowpages.com.au and type in "electroplating". There were about 63 it came up with in Sydney. Even if they can't do your wheels specifically - they'll be able to give you advice and pointers to a place that can.

Post how you go, as I am sure many others could be interested. Even though my rims (chrome too) aren't damaged, if they ever were i'd be interested to see how they could be repaired.

the reason why most people dont do it is because the chrome has to be stripped off to find out what type of metal the rim is, which is a pain itself.

Once its repaired its got to be re-chomed which i think wont look the same. Which is the reason why MOST tyre/wheel place dont touch it.

Thats what ive been told by a metal expert.
