From what my friends have told me it's best to know someone in Japan. They can show you around and meet new people, and help with the language barrier.

Other than the obvious, start learning Japanese if you haven't done so already. I've only been doing it for a few months and plan on going late next year.

How long are you going for? Obviously you are into cars, but what else do you you wana do/see over there?

I dont know how the aussie dollar will keep going, but it might be a good idea to buy some yen in the not too distant future. I am heading back to stay for a year or 2 in april, so I am gonna buy a couple of grand soon- (when i was there last living last year $1 = 85yen, whereas now it is $1= 105yen)

If you are into general sight seeing stuff and you have the time, go to Hiroshima. I lived near there and it was a really cool place.

Having said that, I wish i had of spent more time in Tokyo and Osaka (both to live and sightsee). It seems like there is always something cool to do there.

Also check out the dates for the Super GT calender, you might be able to get to a meeting(a must). They are PHAT.

If only we were allowed to go that radical with the V8 Supercars.

Cheers

Probably for a few months, but not that long. I'd say less than 3 months (unless I can land myself a job there :(). I'll check the dates to see which is a good time to go and better soon take advantage of the stronger aussie dollar.

Yeah I love sight seeing. I love Japan's country, people, food and culture. It has always fascinated me. I'd definitely check out Hiroshima cause I remember doing a paper on this back in high school about the war. It might sound really geeky or call me an Otaku but I wanna check out Akihabara. Gonna get me some computer parts while I'm there. Would also love to go to Kyoto and see some of the old buildings.

If I can I hope to see some street and track drifting, and if possible to try out drifting myself while I'm there. Theres so many things on my want to do list, but I just can't think of any right now :) .

Oh I'd also check out Harajuku. See if I can recognize any anime characters LOL :laughing-smiley-014:

yeah im definately keeping an eye on the super gt, and harajuku is a definate and my gf's friend is living in japan so free accomodation! my the looks of it id be staying for about a month or 2

oh and thanks for the info guys

LOTS to do/see, just post more specific questions, any shops you want to see, for events, the local drift/tack days are the best for fun and meeting people, but the big ones will be superGT, or D1, heres D1 schedule for first few months...
