Then trying to find a gtr for 19k wont be easy

I don't know..

It wasn't that hard for me to go to the first page of the for sale section here to see this.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t174877.html

he is looking for trades too.

give him the $9K you have on top of your gtst.

best buy eva

I reckon stick with the original RB25 transplant, but plan to get the bottom end forged for over 260rwkw of power.

It's still gonna handle at least 300rwkw with the mods you want, and with some top end mods (cams/cam gears/v. springs/port&polish) will be able to make a lot of power.

So you'll save a bit on buying the 25 rather than a 26, and you're not going to be 'disadvantaged' that much with the end result.

Thats my 2c

So you recon you can buy and build a forged motor for $7k, well probably yes depending on parts, then you need the gearbox to back it up, then a fuel system, then management, clutch oh and maby a turbo setup too.....

point out an RB30/25 combo that cost less than a stock second hand complete rb26dett.

How about this one for ya? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t1...66#entry3370166 I had a hand in building that engine, one of the best budget builds going around IMO. Had exactly the same setup sitting at home until I decided to sell my car, sold the engine to a mate for his VL.

ya wot?

plenty have sold recently for very low 20's that had had full engine rebuilds and turbo upgrades

you could check the online ads at the usual locations and buy any number of standard-ish ones for under well under $19k today if you wanted to

yeh I remember leighs RB30.

if you can do that then I can see how it's a cheaper alternative.

pretty much everyone can get $100 rb30 bottom ends.

not everyone has connections for $1000 GT30's.

$500 rb25de heads.

etc etc.

I say sell up.

and buy a ticket to brisbane.

then buy this.

His a dweeb he doesn't have connections, he just shopped around on SAU and I think he is telling slight fibs concerning the turbo. Negotiate and you will be surprised, so long as you are willing to be flexible

Its an R32. IMO RB26's are far more friendly.

Another option Jason is you could get a front-cut. That would also net you brakes and so on, for not a lot more in price as front-cuts arent a lot more expensive that the motor/loom themselves.

Hell, even in my 1400kg car the RB26 wins over any motor setup i've had.

Admittadly i havent had a 30DET, but ive had a reasonable 30ET and it didnt do anything for me in a lighter car (VL)... but then with all my reasonable power builds (remember he is chasing power later) ive just bitten the bullet and done a full rebuild from the outset.

26 or 30det is each to thier own.

RB26 grabbed me for the sheer reason of all the legalities - you have NO issues what so ever.

Where 30DET's that use a RB25 head require a dirty big single and then it stands out like dogs balls.

Yeah, but then the turbo has let go which one can probably attribute to the building of the motor and related oil pressure.

So its not so budget when your wasting time with the car off the road due to reliability problems of a cheap build :P

Ummm actually, the engine is still running with another turbo on it. There was shit in the oil line. There is no issue with a "cheap build' here, its to do with Leigh being a stooge and not checking the lines

If you had driven a hybrid you would know that they are a totally different engine. The 26 still offers many advantages like I previously mentioned, but I still think that for the result, they are overpriced

Turbo could have also been a dodgy job, heard one of the previous owners was a dodgy rat.....hahaha jk jk
