I'm not having a go asI was interested in the quote as well, but I think we should keep this to peoples direct personal experiances, not hersay.

I'd really like to know if more than one person has had experiance with "Skyline Performance" (http://www.gtr.net.au/). The website is one of the better designed ones I've seen for a car workshop.

Fair call, though I doubt any of them will ever be on here  It is a pretty well known fact that it happened though.

Im not going to have a go at anyone here and I really dont want to insult Ed because he seems like a genuine decent bloke, but when it comes to my car, I simply just want it done right. I do know the full details of what went wrong and they have fixed the problems, but 2 blown engines later. He just seems to have a bad karma hanging around and I dont want to risk it. But I know these arnt the only problems around from both current and previous businesses. Anyways, all in all, I cant say that he wont do a good job on others cars, but just not going to risk it.

Just gonna say that they have been really good to me there and let me use the workshop and apologise for this shit statement. Im a tool for posting it thinking I had all the details and even then not my place. Had a dickhead moment.

Skyline Performance have looked after me and they know what they are on about, especially when it comes to GT-R's and rb26 engine builds, but They do more than just engine builds, even though thats what they concentrate on.

In saying that they did a good job with my clutch and gearbox, which I bought a second gearbox, new exedy HD clutch kit supplied and fitted for less than anywhere else was pretty much doing just clutched supplied and fitted, Free RB20 Gearbox pretty much. Sure it was lucky that they had it lying around but still very cheap. Plus on top of all that it was done really fast, Called them on the tuesday, car dropped off on the wednesday, gearbox and a clutch later, on the skidpan buy Saturday

All in all 2 thumbs up from every aspect , Speed, Price, Quality and attitude, They are my mechanic from now on :P

I've had my car worked on by Jake, Trojan and autotech, I have found that for my car and for me it's better that I stick with autotech, Pete has always been very helpful and good to me. I haven't personally had much contact with Ed, But If he works at autotech then i'll have no problems with him working on the car. Plus he knows autronic's... so thats a big plus for me...

Which reminds me, I should really get some more things done to before the 1st hillclimb this year

try Gastune in tuggeranong. they are doing all the work on my new R31 drifter and I have been going to Joe there for many years even before he owned Gastune.... Let them know that Jeremy reffered you too them. And If you go in there iover the next week or so you can check out my upcoming DA entrant..... For real.

2nd, just got my GTR back after a big engine build.

110% happy so far.

So you got it back, when you run it in, have to take me for a spin :D

Will do, its a beast. Sounds unreal and has heaps more turque while not underboost.

Haven't given it a hit yet and dont plan to till after its run in.

So happy with it though.

Is Phil working for Joe again?

Sure is, Phil really knows the rb26's inside and out and what works well with them.

Once the car is on the road i will get some of the engine build pics together so people can see them.

The engine will speak for itself once on its finnal tune. :P

Reading over the first page here it's worth adding my piece.

I've taken my car to Ed for a few years now; when he was at Integra, and still take it to him now he's at Autotech. I wouldn't trust anyone else to work on it. he's done servicing on it and installed and tuned the modifications i've had so far.

He's always done a damn good job of it, and gone out of his way to get things done when he said he would.

To the person who mentioned a dodgy dyno tune, the conditions on the dyno are different to those on the road, especially when it comes to load etc. My first tune was the same, resulted in some pretty bad knock but i took it back and it's been brilliant since. No fuss at all.

If you want a good mechanic, i couldn't recommend him and the others at Autotech strongly enough.

Anyone else (apart from reece?) been to these guys? Their webpage no longer seems to work. Interested in getting some work done.

Also are they still working out of a shed or do they have a new premises? Also northside or southside?

Just had some work done on my car after the turbo went. Had it done at skyline performance. Have to say very good customer service, attention to detail, and information. Very happy with the work, and would recommend to anyone else looking at getting some mods done. Still sorting out some small niggling issues, but very happy their work.

    • You've just discovered a really good reason to tell yourself, yes, I do need to buy an aftermarket ECU. Put the MAF in the bin. Slap in the new ECU and have a think about what turbo sounds you prefer.  Do you want a 90's style BOV wooosh? Do you want a hektik tsututututu?  Mate, can't go wrong. Just gotta get that ECU and the world is your oyster.
    • Hi. Iam just curisou about this topic. I saw this video. It is about Greddy Type FV2. I know that BoVs are about that sound but how and when to use it? I read some topic here and from what i have understand on stock RB with MAF there will be some "problems" if you use this BoV? It vents the air in to the atmosphere and the MAF on stock car needs this air back in to the intake and not out? Or is it wrong? If so...i saw you can put some adaptor to circule air back...but does that not "loose" that sound? I saw another BoV from Turbosmart and it has two "exhaust" like ports? One is for the stock tubing for letting air back and one is for "sound" and let the air in the atmosphere? Can someone please explain? This is the Greddy one:  And this is the Turbosmart.     THANK YOU!! EDIT: So i read about this topic some more and i if i understand that correctly: That Greddy can function either like BoV or 100% Bypass valve? And that Turbosmart is what they called hybrid so you can adjust what and how many air can be vented out or back in? Is this right? THX!
    • That dirty voltage drop is the culprit I suspect
    • i cant get them all in 1 screenshot unfortunately as i just dont know how to move things around tbh, but they are all from the same log and the line crosses at the same point for all of them
    • It's about time I start work on my sun tan. So I knocked up a few parts that will all combine together to become my new power steering reservoir. Now just to produce an abundance of UV and IR rays while melting a heap of bits of alu to become one... Well, that's after I put one more hole in it for the return line to plumb to. It likely won't be this weekend, as Sunday I'm meant to be in doing some last minute stuff to the AMG race car, and the weekend after will be filled with non my Skyline stuff, followed by Bathurst 6 hour. So I don't expect to get to melt metal for at least 3 weeks.   I also managed to stuff up and start cutting the hole for the res to pump pipe on the wrong side of the line... It means instead of the lines being nice and tight against the inner guard, they'll be out off the guard.    The size of it means I should end up with about 1.8L of power steering fluid, and still have space for another half a litre before it reaches the overflow/breather. This is wayyyyyyy more capacity than factory, which should help keep Powersteer oil temps lower, and the design hopefully allows it to prevent any aerated oil being able to makes its way down to the bottom as it'll have a couple of baffles and some hopeful trickery to force air bubbles away from the bottom.
