Vehicles for Dismantling

The importation of complete vehicles for dismantling purposes is not permitted.

A company I deal with in Queensland that specializes in Europeans have been bringing over complete cars to wreck, all bar not roll on roll off though.

Is there a point where DOTARS deem a car no longer “complete” and you can bring it over in more then two halves? EG: No motor or running gear in it makes it no longer complete?

I was under the impression cars coming over for wrecking purpose had to be cut in half, however this place has complete body shells sitting in there warehouse that have come over from the UK.

More curious then anything.

Thanks.

Generally it's accepted that a car is no longer 'complete' and therefore allowed for import as parts if it's cut in half or has the entire running gear (engine, trans, suspension, etc.) removed and shipped in a seperate container on a different vessel from to Australia.
