I thought you are not meant to fit different width tyres on gtr's, as it mucks about with the 4wd system?

"235/40 tyres all round" just because the wheels are different size doesn't mean the tyres are.

Having different tyres wont matter on a gtr, it will change the behavior of the 4wd system, yes, but it just means it wont need as much front torque as usual.

You can, it's not an issue.

You can even run wider tyres as long as the rolling diameter is the same. Bigger on the rear but with a lower series profile is fine.
