PS2 mod chip ???

need some help.

a mate is organising a group buy of a massiah 2.5 chip for $95 (he hopes) but i have no idea what's the best chip to get.

i really don't want to have to do any disc swapping and i want to be able to watch all DVD's too.

i looked around online but every site i go to says their chip is the best, HA!

who's got the PS2 modded? what chip are you using? how do you find it? where did/who did it?

any help would be much appreciated.

Apparently the best mod by far is the DMS-3 www.dms3.com

But you pay for it.... I was going to get one but think it was $250+ installed. bah!

i got a magic 3.1... it works pretty good... but it doesnt multi region ur dvd... it cost me 80 bucks... bargain considering at the time they were goin for 150...and u dont need to swap discs...etc

I know someone that can do mode chips excellent, but the problem is that his not from Melb...he just moved somewhere I think...

do anyone know if the mod chips enable you to play vcd's.... Ive got a whole stack and my ps2 doesn't play them.........will get the mod if it does.

No modchip for a ps2 will let you play vcd's.

To find out which ps2 chip you NEED, you first need to know which model ps2 you have! there have been many models released that all look the same and YES it makes a difference.

check http://1tronic.com/ps2_ver.htm to see which one you need. if you want the right chip that is....

thanks 2rismo, I was gonna put the ps2 in my car and just get one of those monitors and hook that up but it looks like I'll have to get the whole unit now, oh well, it should look better anyway, thanx

Yep sell the PS2 and get a Xbox mod it with 80 gig hard drive and put that in your car.You can play DVD VCD MP3 files off the hard drive.

Yes sega gt it has all the skylines in it from prince to nissan.I have gt3 on ps2 aswell as a few imported games like initial d but since i got my xbox i just dont play the ps2 anymore xbox is way better it even has a ver of mame on it with 400 games.
