ive got a 2-way mechanical diff for an r32 gtst from a previous project and, dont really want to sell it and buy another on so just wondering can you fit it into an r34 gtt>? or even if the casings are different are the centers interchangeable?

any info would be appreciated

Not sure about 34's but I was informed that 33 diffs are not the same as 32's.. basically I have a Nismo 2way sitting at home and was chasing 4.1 gears to go in at the same time but was told that the crown wheel bolt pattern is different on 33's. Good luck!

yeh i thought they might be, i guess ill just have t wait till i get back from holidays and pull em apart and have a look, or just bite the bullet sell the 2-way and buy a new one for the 34 thanks for the info tho

Looking at the KAAZ catalogue no, as R34 and R32 diffs are different..

but from:

It seems possible to get a S15 centre into a S13 R200 diff.

Considering S15 & R34 diffs are the same in the KAAZ catalogue, guessing they are similiar then I would assume that your R32 centre will fit into the R34 housing.

ill just wait till i get back to aus, get the engine done, then worry bout it, open them both up and see what can be done, will post what happens with it tho so people can use it for future reference wish me luck hehe

thought id bring an old thread back to life with a bit of good news,

i got the r32 diff into the 34, i used the r32 casing but changed the backing plates over so it has the right bolts on it, the hole sizes are different for the mounting at the snout end but thats because the r34 diff has bush inserts that the bolt goes through to make the whole thing quieter. but the bolt holes with the 32 diff line up but you just need to space them out with either a thick solid washer/part of the bush from when the r34 diff was there or get a urathane bush made up, you could use the r32 bolts or get smaller bolts but then the diff would be at a different angle to where it was originally.

another difference is that the r34 has its sensors on the diff for the TCS, so since they're not there now the ABS doesnt work either. im getting an aftermarket comp so i wont have TCS at all and hopfully my ABS will work again with the new comp unless they were also the ABS sensors, in that case im ging to have to see if the internals can be swapped over which now that ive had a look im sure they can.
