R33 Skyline - A Few Things Im Not Sure About......

Recommended Posts

Hey!

I just bought a R33 Skyline Series 1 today and im not sure of a few things that are happening....

Ive noticed that if im not moving and i turn the steering wheel the car revs up a little bit? Does anyone know what this is?

Also under my dash when i start the car theres a noise like "a aerial trying to go up but the motor is dead". Although my aerial is at the back of my car so im not sure what it could be....

Any help would be Great!

Thanks! :)

Thanks Heaps!!! :P

So is it bad that the power steering is under load or is that fine?

Im guessing to fix the aircon I would have to pull my dash apart..... will the slipping of the gear affect how my aircon works at all?

Yes normal for PS pump.

The noise under the dash is normal it's one of the plastic thingys that has come off behind the center dash.

It's annoying but yea to get rid of it you'll need to take the WHOLE dash off not only the center console.

There have been a few threads over the years on sau about this, and I think even a DIY on how to get rid of the noise.

As mentioned a few times, this air-con clicking is quite common on the 33's. Mine has been doing it for a few months now... very annoying but not quite annoying enough to make me rip the entire dash apart to fix it! I'll do it one day!

As everyones said above,

increased RPM is your engine compensating for load on p/steering pump

noise behind dash are the plastic runners that the air conditioning vents turn on/off with. It is extremely common in skylines, they come apart. Whole dash to come out to fix - not really worth it. If you want it to stop, even with the A/C off, slam the red button a few times or direct the air in from outside...
