Hey guys,

I have another switch question. I picked up my S2 Manual Stagea and have seen a switch on the dash which is to the right of the steering wheel.

It has a pic of the windscreen and wiper and also looks like it has a wavey water level at the bottom of it. If I press it the only this it does light up an orange light on the switch itself.

Sorry if its hard to explain and my camera is buggered at the moment. The switch also is not an on / off switch. if you press it down it will flick back up and the light will come on and if you press it again it flicks back up and the light turns off but it doesnt seem to do anything.

Im assuming it has something to do with the windscreen of washer bottle but I have no idea what it would do!

Cheers

Dave

p.s. I am loving the stagea!!! I had no idea they were so nice to drive!

hahaha well i dont think ill be using that any time soon, cheers.. I guess I can't really test them then? how does it work?

Put your wipers in the freezer for an hour, pop them back on, time it with/without switch on to see how long before the defrost. :laughing-smiley-014:

The "Wiper de-icer system" usually came with a cold weather spec pack which also included heated wing mirrors, rear fog lamp, bigger battery, better heater, bigger starter, & if you coupled that with the "S Pack" you would get a rear viscous Limited slip diff (LSD)

and the remote start option maybe? or is that something else again?

'Fraid not, the remote starter was a seperate option...

Type A starts or stops the engine

Type B starts & stops, alarm function, locks & unlocks the doors.

Type C starts & stops, alarm function, auto rear demister if ambient temp is less than 5 deg, and answer back function

Type D starts & stops, alarm function, lock & unlock, auto rear demist, & answer back which basically sends a signal to the car (at up to 300m away) the lights on the car flash, then the little LCD screen displays the car temp, if it's locked, if the alarm is armed, and if the engine is running or stopped among other things...

All of these were only available on the auto

  • 1 year later...

rear fog light is for they really foggy days, say if you can just see the car up ahead that is only 20meters or so infront, well then i guess the car behind you can just see you too.

fog light is really bright, and being red they will know that there is a car infront and thats your car they can now see.

little switch is for the wiper arm, if you have snow on your wiper arms, thick snow, that basically heats up, melts the snow around the arm to allow it to move much easier. :D

Hey there

The switch that you are talking sounds like it could be to heat up your wipers, you can tell by having a close look at your windscreen, if it does have the heating elements in the glass they are orange in colour and usually have three long strips where your wipers sit in the off mode. If the heating elements are in the black part of the glass (ceramic) it will be very hard to see but you should see them.

If you do happen to have the heated windscreen make sure you have glass cover on you insurance, if you think the price of a normal windscreen for a stagea is expensive wait till you find out how much a heated one is!!!!

the switch heats up your front windscreen... if you look at your windscreen you can see a few lines of that demister strip around the outside... turn it on for about 5 minutes and touch the windscreen near the strip, nice and hot... i didnt know it heated up the mirrors... will come in handy in winter when im down at the snowys...

p.s. i was lucky enough to have remote start type b... theres a few tricks to using it tho which is good... push the start stop button twice the car starts... push it once it stops... push the other button twice alarm arms and locks doors, once will disarm and unlock... only thing that shits me is once the car is running it will turn off when you open the doors... i am thinking of a timer circuit that holds the door switches on for like five minutes so you can get in the car put the keys in the ingnition... as soon as the keys are in the ignition its orite... if you have the window down and put the keys in the ignition its sweet as so it wont be too hard to come up with a circuit...

neway ive got a stagea to wash
