Hey Guys (and girls),

I am Aaron, aka Cul, live on the Gold Coast, and work in Brisbane... I've long been a proformance V8 person, having owned a number of modified V8 Commodores, and Fords, but I am looking for something a little more subtle and economical for my next car - After spotting a 4 Door V35 on the freeway a few days ago, and since doing a Iittle reading am now hooked, and currently searching for a v35 sedan (300gt) or a coupe if the missus will let me :-)

So for now, while I ask stupid questions please dont bite. :-)

Welcome to SAU, Aaron (aka Cul. :) )

It will be a totally different car to the ones who drove before. Nevertheless, it's great you take notice of it.

Any questions for it, I am sure someone can help you out on this forum.

Good luck with the car and enjoy your stay. :)

Hey Peeps,

I'm in the process of importing a V35 350GT Coupe Premium 6spd through J-spec.

The 350GT is the car I have wanted since about 2006, so I'm pretty excited! (Got on the VQ bandwagon after owning an 5spd A32 maxima).

Given my current car puts out 120whp (its only a 1.6 4age 20v Blacktop)

The current car is an AE111 Levin (also imported through J-spec back in 2007)

Should get some more pics of my V35 later this week :D (it is still in Japan)

I live in Brissy and work in IT.

Have been told a few times I am to young to own a car like a V35 yet (I'm 24). Anyone get this reaction?

Welcome to SAU, Glen. Good choice. thumbsup.gif

I was 24 when I got mine. As long as you are not on your P, it will be fine.

Nah P plates were a looooong time ago.

I just meant the stereotype of it apparently being an old blokes car (Lies, all lies!)

Its just a shame the VQ30DET wasn't offered!

I love the gold GT-C's on yours mate, looks sweet!

Hi Glen, I think V35 suit all ages as it looks very different from previous Skyline ranges.

Thanks, Glen. I like it a lot too. :)

Hey there,

I have the Xforce system on my V....sounds great once the revs are past 3k to redline and noticeable torque gain from the mid range.

Are you getting your setup installed by a shop? I had a hard time fitting it to the stock cats but should be ok since you're getting HFCs.

Hey guys and gals,

My name is Joshua and I'm looking at purchasing a V35 in the near future possibly next week even as my previous vehicle is being written off due to a series of bad luck and just all out being cursed (2001 AU2 Falcon =/ ).

The particular model I am currently looking at is a 2001 V35 300GT Sedan with the 5sp Auto/Semi-Auto trans, at $13 000 with 60,000 km's on the car as a P-Plate car.

I have heard heaps of good things thus far but one thing i really wanted to question was if some sort of converter is required for wiring in an after market Headunit on the car, haven't been able to find any mention of it so I imagine it doesn't??

Thanks, Joshua.

Also one other question what kind of exhaust's are available in Aus for a 2001 300GT Sedan, if anyone can provide links, pricing etc it would be much appreciated and I live in QLD so exhaust places from QLD would be preffered unless I can get a bolt on one I can install myself.

Welcome Kolossus....I used to have a 300GT as well and they were a nice little cruiser....

as for exhausts, there would be next to nothing available in australia off the shelf....it would need to be custom made.

Check out bolt on options from either the US or Japan.

Awesome thanks a ton N15m0, will probably look down the US avenue first due to our strong dollar I guess.

How about the Stereo issue? and does anyone in Aus sell double din facia's for them? (it won't have the premium pop up screen.)

Don't say that =/ your scaring me already haha, but I think it may have a double din capable facia in it already I can't see it properly from the photo's but I will see when I go get it anyway. (Don't worry I'm not getting it without it getting checked out first I just live 600km's away from brissy so I can't just pop in and say "hi, let me see ya car!")

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
