Project car , it had a fair bit of rust in the engine bay and one of the injectors was leaking, so I thought in order to do this right pull out the motor strip the engine bay sand blast repair repaint fix and put back together.

I have gotten as far as pulling the motor out stripping the engine bay and in the next day or so it will be going to the sand blasters. Engine has been pulled down by a mechanic who was recomended to me from someone here and he believes with the leaking injector it caused a problem with the rings on number 5 piston.

This didn't bother me as I wanted to put the JUN stroker kit in anyway.

All bullshit aside its at goldcoast paintworks at molendinar on the gold coast if you are interested and want to have a look.

Just got back from Gavin Wood performance, he has stripped down the motor and pistons are no good.

Head is good turbos good crank good.

i checked this car out a couple of months ago, sure it needs a fair bit of work but hell what a cheap 260, be great to have in the garage and play with ( free plug pat, good luck pal)

I can't beleive no one has jumped at this, no one must want a series II 260RS I thought they were rare as rocking horse shit and worth a fortune.

I wish i could just bight the bullet and do it up my self.

Compliancing - $4,000?

Obviously a full engine rebuild, painting the engine bay, and refitting the engine. May as well do it properly. How much to rebuild an RB26 (most 26's need rebuilds soon enough anyway, i think...) $4-5,000?

Anything else? Any other problem areas with the car?

Just got back from Gavin Wood who's building the engine 5,400 with forged pistons and everything else done(big list) other than putting it back into the car and not running into major problems. We shouldn't as the motor is allready pulled down.

Engine bay and a couple of small touch ups on the paint side $1,200-$1,500

or its perfect if you want a colour change or do anything more to the engine as its already out and easy to work on.
