How many mm are the spacers? If its not a gigantic number, there's no difference. I have some thin as ones for my fronts to clear the brakes, it doesn't really affect much. But yeah essentially you'd want to get some rims that don't need spacers.

the main difference is between legal and illegal. Cops will defect you for it and insurance companies will void ur policy. the tyre shop gave you the right advice.

Geez do you get defected for spacers? Nearly got them super thick ones at some stage cos I was about to buy bad offset rims :P

That is why you buy wheels from high quality Japanese wheel makers which

A) Publicise their offsets

B) Recommend offsets for your specific car

C) Offer a wide range of offsets

maybe i havent looked into it enough but most of the japanese style wheels i've seen seem to be the simple 5 spoke design with only basic variation on that. I dont like that style very much though. i'll keep an eye and ear out for some chrome rims that will actually fit without the spacers.

Japanese style rims are different to authentic Japanese rims.

Also we are not talking about the style as that varies from person to person but the offset which guarantees best fitment.

You won't find your cheap-shit Filipino/China chrome rims with good offsets.

Chrome rims on a skyline look crap anyway.

get some japanese rims that are light and strong (there are quite a lot of different designs aswell)

also probably best to place it safe and go for rims that are meant to fit your car and not go chucking spacers on etc.
