Let's see.. The guy was smart enough to pay some ridiculous amount to insure his car.. and smart enough to take it to WSID like a responsible person should... happened to mess up... and you're angry because he managed to get his insurance payout, after no doubt paying a silly big excess as well?? I'm sure he's paid a lot of money to the insurance company over the years too.. I say good on him if he managed to get a payout. It's not like he purposely put the car in to the wall just so he could claim insurance..

Infact... I have little doubt in my mind 90% of you here would also try to get an insurance payout if something unplanned and unfortunate happened at the track.

You should be more angry with mass amount of scumbag thieves causing the increase in insurance costs, not the VERY FEW people like this guy who bodge it up to get a payout for a track related accident.

His personal insurance costs would go up a little after this, but it would have very little impact if any on the overall insurance costs for everyone else.

nice attitude. and you are completely wrong. I've damaged my car at the track before. I have comprehensive insurance. and unlike this gentleman I was captured on any photos, or footage. probably only 1 or 2 witnesses and even then none saw my number plate. so I'm sure it's possible I could have submitted a fraudulent claim and gotten the payout. did I do it? no way. I know of a couple of people here who have damaged their cars at the circuit (none are ham fisted enough to do it at the start line of a drag race though) and none that I know of have comitted fraud in order to save themeselves some money.

the good thing with these types of crimes are they can catch up with you at anytime ;) every time the phone rings... id be getting worried :D

but i guess thats why i didnt defraud insurance when i wrote off my car a few months ago... whereas the other guy took the risk and came out a winner.

Fraud or not I have no sympathy for the insurance company

Yep. And they'd have no sympathy for the guy when he's getting pounded in the ass in jail for insurance fraud.

It's a pretty serious crime and the insurance companies don't like to be screwed out of $$'s Good luck trying to get a decent job with a criminal record.
