Hey everyone whats up got a wideband problem and wanted to see if anyone on here could help me out. Car is a 95 gts-t mods are pod filter with cai, fmic, 3.5" turbo back exhaust with split dump no cat, boosted up to 12 psi, stock ecu and turbo with afc neo. Ok here is the prob got a PLX wideband O2 SENSOR installed the O2 sensor in the decat pipe wired it up correctly and everything got power and the instructions stated that no calibration is needed but if you let it get warm takes 45 sec and it is exposed just to normal air the display should read air did that and air appeared on the display. Now here is the dilemna ct the car on let it get warm reset my afc neo cause Im thinking all is good and I'll be able to tune the afr's myself so I let the car get to normal operating temp took a look at my display and it reads 19 now Im cruisn at 1500 rpm to try and get the afr's right for that rpm and the display says lean and the more gas I put in the the richer it gets but i set the afc neo to +50 and the lowest afr I got was 14.5 I think!!!! What the hell is goin on. I thought skylines with stock ecu ran rich why are my afr's so lean at cruise and I did it at idle and the same thing nothing below 14.5 WHEN I have added +50% on the afc neo and when I set it back to 0 it shows lean. Can any1 help?

Its possible that the sensor needs to be calibrated, i know with the better quality wb02 units you can calibrate the sensor.

Check the companys web site out and hope for the best, if you can i would return it and see the guys at wb02 and get a real sensor :P

If the sensor cannot be calibrated then it may be faulty and have to be returned.

What happens if you take the sensor out, turn it on wait for it to heat up, get a cigerete lighter and let the GAS ONLY escape over the sensor, do you get a reading at all? (do not light the lighter just let the gas go past the sensor)

If yo dont get a reading then and you cant calibrate it then its faulty.

Sorry didnt know where to put it so I placed it twice its a plx wb and it is supposed to be self calibrated. If I let it heat up by itself in open air it goes from 14.6 to 20 to lean to air and thats what the wibesite says it should do. If I then blow on it it reads lean again what the site says it should do, also it does get warm when the power is switched to on and if i disconnect the display reader from the O2 sensor it reads 14.6 again thats what the site says it should do. Now when I start my car and let it idle the display goes from 14.6 to lean when it reaches norm operating temp and the more fuel I add via afc neo the richer it gets but at the most fuel I can add the display reads 14.6 and I bet if i were to leave it there it would eventually read rich. I was wondering if i just have the O2 sensor to far back I have placed it right before the cat.

I have a PLX wideband on my car and it works fine. It does the same things that yours does when not connected etc.

When I had mine dyno tuned - the PLX matched the Dyno Lamda - so all good for me.

I placed my sensor before the cat - and the just after the dump pipe flange.

Ensure the sensor is between 10:00 and 2:00 - the can't be upside down (ie 6:00) as water can get in them.

I'd suggest getting some dyno time with another wideband up the arse of your exhaust as a check and reference.

PS - no need to calibrate mine..... (as you say, they don't need it)

I only have a question for you in the instruction manual it says when the O2 sensor has reached operating temp air should be displayed on the reader and the white wire should have 5 volts on it. Now i sat in my car for bout five mins and let the O2 sensor get heated and when I checked the white wire all I got was 0.41 volts. I want to know how long it takes for the O2 sensor to reach normal temp and since this seems to b the prob what do I do replace the O2 sensor or the reader? Also my sensor is prob at 3:00.

    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
    • Doing a refresh of my 33 and can see a few websites stating they sell the entire main carpet for our cars, but they all have generic photos which is fine, i understand they are custom made to order.  Just seeing if anyone has got it done or had any experience with this, as i would only want to do it if the fit and finish was as good as oem https://carmatsdirect.com.au/products/moulded-carpet-or-vinyl-for-nissan-skyline-r33-1993-1998-coupe https://knoxautocarpets.com.au/moulded-carpets/nissan/skyline/skyline-r-33-1993-1998/
    • Any plans for E85? If so, add flex fuel sensor.   I'd probably add in the sensors I mentioned above if the Link will support using them for engine protection. With water pressure, you need to be able to effectively set it that "If temp > X, and pressure = atmospheric, shutdown" as at running temp, you should be able to read pressure in the cooling system. If pressure suddenly disappears, it means the water went some where, and this is a quicker reaction than waiting on water temp to go up (Which, can take a little longer than you'd like, considering it now has to wait for hot air to heat it up) Oil pressure, Oil temp, both would be on my list too if you're looking to add sensors. Wideband O2. And at least one EGT sensor. If you're feeling deluxe, put in individual runner EGTs. Single EGT sensor is more so forget about a specific number, get used to "What is normal EGTs", and then keep an eye on it, if it starts going away from "normal" it's a sign something is wrong (Also, things like the tune can still start going out of spec, but EGTs may not show it, for example one injector starts running leaning, so ECU richens everything up, now 5 out of 6 cylinders are rich, and running cool, with one cylinder lean and running hotter, so it's not perfect) Then there is your other things to look at non sensor related, but you may have already done, or have underway, and that would be things like building a sump for more oil, and better oil control under high G-Forces (Cornering, brakes, acceleration). Basically, the above is worth looking/thinking about, if the ECU can do protective stuff with it, and you continue to use it how you are (Drive it to the track, thrash it, drive home, repeat once every 3 to 4 months)
    • Can also confirm these work a treat for most balljoints and bushes. If you have access to a big rattle gun, they make the job so much easier and quicker, compared to using a socket wrench or shifter on the c-clamp 👍
