Best Area Of The Boot To Place Sub In R33, And What Type Of Enclosure

Recommended Posts

As per title, need some ideas, i have a pioneer 305c 12" sub, with a closed sealed subbox, and was wondering where in the boot the sub works best.....i was wanting to create an mdf peice of the backing board that hides the battery in the boot, and mount my amp + 12" sub to it....would this be a good idea?

keep the sub in box for now and try facing it towards the rear.. then try rotating it around to face the seats.. then face it up etc.

different cars give different results. out towards the boot is generally the loudest with sedans.

If you want more noise, consider switching to a ported box (know what this is)? i think the 306c works better in a ported.

you will need to make one up yourself or get a pro to design you one. you can find out how to by going to

mobileelectronicsaustralia.com.au and searching the forums on information. you use the sub's information (found either on the Pioneer site or your instruction manual etc) to work out the best size, port length etc.

Its easy to get wrong but not too hard to get right if you think about it a little, read up and are prepared to give some time.

it can literally be twice as loud in a ported box wich is tuned correctly

old thread but...

as Alex said that driver is better suited to a ported box.

Suitability Factor = Fs/Qes = 32.7/0.317 = 103

Anything >100 is better ported

Anything < 50 is better sealed

Anything in between can be used for either.

A ported box will give lower bass but require a larger box

im thinking of putting two twelve inch subs on either side of the boot just behind the tail lights..if that makes sence..

yeah i get what u mean, thats what i wanna do have it fiber glassed into the sides but only 1 at the start as i got my 1 amp all tacken (as amps are expensive) with the front alpine amped back alpine amped and my sub off 1 amp and dont think will b enought for another 12 inch alpine sub to run off of it haha ive only got 6.5inch S types in front and back and a S type 12 inch sub and thats enought bass outside..crystl clear inside no distortion in speakers (had it pro tuned) from to much bass and no ratling, reall happy! sh@#ts on any other commonwhores sound system!

Your referring to one on each side of the boot facing outwards right?

Because pointing them toward each other would be a really bad idea...
