Cd Drive Problem

Sorry if this is the wrong section, mods please move if it is.

The cd drives on my computer don't work.

I've checked through device manager and it says:

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"

I've checked all the connections to the drives and they seem to be fine.

I had the power pack changed yesterday and it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions??

i could fix it.. but it sounds like a costly job.. probs need to order in some parts from sweden...

you got a credit card ?

does it atleast open / close when u press the button btw ?

External or internal? Sata or ide? etc.

if internal ide check jumper settings?

cd drives are cheap now days ne way if u do need to replace, check ebay out there really cheap

Buy yourself a DVD-RW drive, under $50. If that doesn't work, give it to me with a 6 pack and I'll fix it. That is all.

Otherwise just replace the thing, so cheap these days.

there are problems coming in to work that ive had with CD drive. and requiring the upper and lower filters in the registry to be deleted.... the right one of course.

only seems to happend after installing burning or copying software are... not all the time though... produces and similare error.. try the following. you may need to re install buring software after... i havent yet but yeah could happen

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software.

7. Restart your computer.

STATUS

This is a known issue that can occur when you remove Easy CD Creator version 5.01 or earlier or DirectCD version 3.01c or earlier. This issue may also occur with Easy CD Creator version 5.01 and with DirectCD 3.01d or later.
