Hey guys,

Just dropped a 25 into my gts4 R32. Car is not running yet as im waiting on a few parts before i get it going. Went to bleed the clutch today and when depressing the clutch, fluid started squirting out of the boot on the slave cylinder (rubber expandy thing). Im pretty sure fuild isnt supposed to make it to that point. so i pulled the slave off, dismatelled it and had a look. I noticed it uses a piston system, had a close look at the seal around the piston and realised it was on uneven. so i pulled it all out and put it all back together properly.

Anyway, the problem came when trying to re-attatch it to the gear box, trying to push the clutch fork back to allow room to slip in the clutch slave shaft behind it. I just couldnt get the fork to budge, and the slave shaft was as back as far as i could push it.

It was easy installing it the last time because i did it when the engine was out and there was no clutch pushing on it. Now the engine is bolted up to the bellhousing it is bloody hard.

I lost patients really fast with it today because i have so much to do. Is there any easy way of doing this that im not aware of???

P.S gear box is from a 89 GTR.

Cheers

Are you using a shorter bearing carrier to suit the twin plate?

You can always go ghetto and shorten the pin on the slave. You have to do something because you will kill thrust bearings (and potentially other things too) if you leave it.

Hey bhdave,

The GTR gearbox i used on my previous set up, along with the same clutch and bearing sleeve and everything was fine. Im now begining to think that i may have upset the clutch forks position when installing the engine... i just cant understand why it wont fit... :P

anyone have any ideas? ive drawn myself diagrams of the set up and am trying to figure out where ive gone wrong.... still cant figure it out

haha, err i figured out the problem. I feel like an idiot and shouldnt admit this, but when i first removed the slave a good 5 months ago, i accidentally pulled the shaft a bit hard and the piston etc. of it all came out, under the car in a hurry i sorta just popped it all back in there as i thought was right. I decided to re-inspect it tonight and found that i had the piston upside down:P and the ball cup end on the bottom. flipped it around, problem all sorted. got it all together in about 3 minutes lol.
