Blowing Dark Smoke

on hard acceleration, what does blowing black smoke out the exhaust mean? Does it mean the car is running rich or does it mean there is a major problem?

are you running any type of air/fuel control?

if you've upgrades exhaus/cooler then the car is likely to run rich.

cheers guys. Yes, has exhaust, cooler and a few other things. All controlled with an autronic ecu.

Glad to know its running rich, probably will get a few more kw after a tune and better fuel economy.

Black smoke usually ok

White smoke bad

Usually means your exhaust is dirty like the guy said black smoke usually ok (especially if it only comes out when u accelerating hard) if its constently coming out you should have it checked, other colour smokes are usually bad.
