this is actually an old thread from last year, we've just used this one instead of making a new one. as a lot of the older information is still quite relevant.

with the addition of 4 door love we have 7 people, another 3 more would be good and we can go ahead.

Got my extractors at work today ... nice and orange lol

Just a quick heads up to people ...

I asked for a 2.5" oulet and they sent me a set of extractors with a 2" outlet ...

dunno why or what I can do about it ? I thought they only came in 2.25 or 2.5 inch not 2 inch ... I measured up with vernier calipers and it came out to exactly 2 inch ...

currently have a 2.5" exhaust system ... might have to get the exhaust shop to cut off the rear collector and weld on a 2.5" collector ...

will have to see what the exhaust shop say if they can cut the collector off and make up a 2.5" outlet or not

Ahh wells ... shit happens I guess ..

I am quite impatient at times and hate waiting for stuff ... when I want something I must have it like yesterday ...

Gonna fit the extractors myself and get the exhaust shop to then cut the collector off and make up a 2.5" collector back to the standard Cat converter then to my 2.5" exhaust ...

Hopefully I notice an improvement in low to mid range performance from what others have said it is noticeable so I will wait and see ...

My mate at the exhaust shop will more than likely want to put a flex joint in where the collector normally is to help with flex of the engine so that the exhaust doesn't crack so I will see what he recommends as he has done a couple performance exhausts for me in the past and has always put a flex joint in this position...

... Hope your group buy goes well :D

P.S - The extractors are nice and Orange :P

Quick heads up for people ...

These extractors are not just a quick bolt on job ... where they weld the pipes onto the header plate the welds are too large to put the spacers on so that you can bolt them on properly ... you will either have to die grind the welds down so you can fit the shims or modify the spacers somehow ... I gave my spacers a grind but it isn't good enuf to clear the welds so I will have to pull the extractors off and die grind some of there welds away so that I can tension them up properly ...

But I did notice a bloody huge difference in engine responsiveness and more power through the mid to high end range ... gets up to speed alot smoother and pickup is much better ...

You guys will notice the difference in power that's for sure ...

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
