Hey everyone,

Got a situation. Purchased my car in QLD 2yrs ago on my P plates. Could legally purchase and drive it etc. Moved interstate and transferred my licence to NSW to a Green P's, only to incur that **cked vehicle restriction on my licence. I applied for an exemption and was granted one for my R33 GTS. My reasons were owned vehicle prior to interstate transfer and work transportation. However I want to get a GTR now. Anyone been stuck like this? Will they let you just change to another prohibited vehicle like that?

If I can't im keeping the GTS I cant live without boost for a year till i get my fulls.

Cheers,

why did you need an exception to drive a GTS?

I think he might mean GTST?

kGB: you may aswell keep your current car for another year until you get off your P's so you can drive a GTR.

Or move back to QLD, buy a GTR, and then come back to NSW??

If you have an exemption then your exempt from all turbo vehicles was my understanding .. but I have total exemption from the law.. I guess you may not?

It will detail it on the rear of your licence, will either have your specific car or nothing written which means you are exempt. apart from 0bac piss

Nah I think what has happened now that it is vehicle specific. On my restriction paper it shows the details of my R33. You are able to apply to change the details for another vehicle its just finding a reason. For anyone in future who needs to get an exemption here is the RTA page with all the details and forms.

High Performance Restrictions NSW

It is not impossible to get the restriction it is just difficult. I will give the RTA a buzz today and let you guys know what they can do...

Unless your posting is greater than 18 months when you come out on LSP, there should not be any reason for you to change your licence or registration of the vehicle. This is a bit hard for Army and RAAF's but since no posting in the Navy is greater than 18 months you can keep whatever rego and licence ya want.

Thus avoiding the RTA's pointless vehicle restrictions who still can't supply me with any evidence that they're new laws have reduced the 'P' plate road toll.

eg: A P plater can buy a 190kw Ford Falcon XR6 but they can't buy a 190kw Mazda 3 MPS because of the turbo...WTF!!

Please explain RTA...

ACT Dont have Green P's Or Turbo Restriction..

If you've been living there for 6 months you can transfer over your licence to an ACT one.. and guess what, your on your greens... they dont have greens.. So it's full licence for you..

Yeah its balls. When do we get a say in the matter. They keep shifting the goal posts for people who have been caught in the middle of all these different states restrictions. Also it makes me furious when we have no say. What 18-21yo P-plater reads the forum section in the Sunday Telegraph and sends letters in? Or has time to send letters to goverment agencies complaining. It is all these do gooders out there that want to hug tree's and save the world. I don't want to see my mates kill themselves and there peers, but we have no chance to voice ourselves. Instead of writing letters we are on forums like this one where our disputes go unheard. Yes deaths are common for P platers in aus but I believe we are not given any incentive to improve our driving skill or attitude. There needs to be a carrot dangled to get some movement with these laws. P plate drivers get targeted alot and the media only highlights the bad aspects of our group e.g speeding, hooning and cruising. One person can spoil it for us all but I wish the RTA would take a different look at the situation to solve the problem instead of listening to do gooders that are retired and have nothing better to do than write letters. It's our future and the way things are going we are all going to be driving smart cars until were 25 if we don't step up and let our opinions be voiced... :teehee: *phew*

Anyone on the same wavelength?
