Hi,

I'm looking at doing one of the following conversions into my 32 gtst:

a. 26DETT

b. 30/25

c. 30/26

d. 30/20

I am after any information anyone can give me to help me make my decision on this! I intend to completely forge the bottom end (whichever one I will be using) and will use the GT3540 & manifold, Nismo 555cc injectors, Tomei cam gears, Bosch 550hp fuel pump, Malpassi reg, Microtech LT12 (is currently a plug-in but can be used as a wire-up as well) and other bolt-ons that were on my 20. I need to know such things as how straight forward each conversion would be; what mods I would have to do for each conversion to fit (including timing belt, tensioners, water jackets etc. etc.); which head would be the better of the 3 to use (in terms of standard flow etc.); which bottom end would be the better one to use (in terms of strength) and which option will give me the most power with the least cost.

Would appreciate any information at all! Thanks

P.S. Has anyone ever put a 2JZ into an R32???? I've seen it in an S15 and a Silvia but not a 32!

Budget?

Use of car?

They will dictate what you do really.

As for the whole "3ltr bottom end", there is a thread already on that, and all the possible parts needed.

Basically all the info is already here, you just need to read it

You could probably do it for half that amount for 350rwkw

If you have an rb26, with a t88, reving to 11,000rpm it will cost you at least $50K to make it somewhat reliable, and it will surely make a shit load more than 350rwkw :P

Just pointing out how ridiculous your comment about "not being concerned about a budget......" was. Everyone has a budget, goal, etc.

26/30 would be the best convo, i believe only 1 little bit of machining is needed for head to go on 30 bottom end.

a few hidden details about conversion

need to make engine mounts low with th 30 bottom

if running 25 box need custom cross member, tailshaft etc

need speedo drive(can use 32 gtr and just change 33 gear off)

need temp. sensor so gauge will work(put off 20)

new wiring loom

different heater hoses

and a few other things that i may have missed

But yer all the info is on this site

best of luck mate

^^ I used an RB25DE head out of an R32, swapped all the sensors from my RB20 and she fired up and drove on the stock RB20 ecu (well it was a remap with no R&R.. the stocker ecu just hit R&R all the time with more than 10% throttle or 3000rpm). Drove pretty damn well for an untuned ecu running a bastard engine.. just didn't like 6000rpm+ as the afm was maxing out.

Neeed a new turbo damnit! This RB25 turbo is waaaaaaaaaaaay too small, 12psi by 2200rpm but over 5500-6000rpm it gets majorly restrictive to the point that by the 6800rpm limiter it's only making 90hp :worship:

    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
