GTS4WD
It's an ecu not a turbo I would think that's a reasonable price; you have to decide if you are willing to gamble whether another one will appear at a cheaper price lol.. god.. I should really read things with more attention.. J3TR33
hey people, i feel like i have neglected you guys on updates on my car and what is happening. Well i decited to go the RB25DE + T option. I have basically paid for all the major parts, i.e turbo, ecu, injectors, fuel pump, and waiting for them to be delivered. Hopefully they will be delivered early next week. I picked up my Front Mount today, i purchased it from ebay, the intercooler itself is a Monza by Autotechnika, no idea what that brand that is lol. It seems like an el cheapo kit, but it dont mind it, it will do its job, its pretty much like every other kit on ebay. It is tube and fin, i was weighing up the pros and cons between bar and plate and tube and fin but decided to go tube and fin. I have a few other parts to get like the gaskets, oil etc. So hopefully they are taken care of early next week as well. Pretty much i should be able to get started on it next weekend or weekend after. I will keep you guys posted. H@ME
looks good it should handle the horsepower you will be after, what sort of computer managment are you doing to look into?? i have not read the entire thread so it may have been mentioned, but wat turbo are you going with as well... will look forward to seeing this project along the way.. WYTSKY
Hey J3TR33, Name's Adam... about 6 months ago I had the same dilemma you are having/ just had about turbos... Now although I had the same options as you, mine were even harder to choose, because I originally had a r33 gts4 n/a s1...which I'm not sure if you know... not really easy to find another gts4 r33, so I had a problem. I decided to turbo my current engine, I bought all my parts off one guy.... $600 for every single thing to make my car turbo in great cond, except for ecu, which i picked up for $70, and intercooler, similar to urs. for $600 I got: Intake arm with stock bov, turbo, manifold, injectors and rail, dump pipe + I may have forgoten somthing... After all the install my car was at about 160rwkw... (did not have an awkw dyno) and it was fine, but I wanted more power. I now have added ontop of all that a power fc, boost controller ( at 12 PSI) , Exedy cushion button clutch, xforce dump and cat + rest of the exhaust sys and STILL on all STOCK internals and she runs absolutely smooth as anything and is now over 200awkw and never missed a beat. if your car is as strong as you say it is, it should be fine. my standard non turbo fuel pump still gives plenty and the only thing I had to change that didn't last was the clutch......four hours after I got the car back! haha! Overall I am really glad I got it done and love my non turbo badges fooling people I can give a few recommendations on where to take your car to get the conversion done.... im in melb too.. SE suburbs. hope this helps you a bit mate. unarmed_skyline
thats great to see someones pushed the boost up past 10 and hasn't had any problems, have you done a compression check to make sure everythings still in order? great results. Oh by the way he's not taking it anywhere to get down too expencive. i'm helping him do the work cause i've done a couple before. but just out of curiosity where did you go to get yours done? I went to revzone in ringwood to get everything checked over and my safc tunned when i finished mine but the safc wasnt good enough to boost the fuel so i ended up buying a microtech but i went to another place to get that tunned which i knew the guys at oh ps, he's going to use the standard turbo ecu which should be fine on stock boost Edited December 7, 2007 by unarmed_skyline Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/192756-turbo-current-engine-put-in-a-turbo-engine-or-sell-and-buy-a-turbo-one/page/3/#findComment-3519135 Share on other sites
J3TR33
hey peepz, thanks for posting and asking questions. Im using a stock turbo and stock ecu. A price brake down for people that are interested: Turbo Exhaust manifold Fuel Pump Alloy cross-pipe with BOV All for $400 Dump-pipe & Front pipe- ? Not sure about the price getting them from unarmed_skyline Injectors $80Ecu-$150 ( maybe a bit pricey, but thats for a series 2 auto, so cant complain) Intercooler and piping (Ebay one) $340 Total price: $970 which includes delivery Gaskets- Havent bought these yet, will post price once i get them from Nissan A few more bits and pieces need to be bought and done, so im guessing the total price should be around the $1.5k with the help from Unarmed_skyline(Jarrod). Hame as for engine management, i was looking at the Greddy E-manage Blue or the E-manage Ultimate. Does anyone know if the Ultimate will work on an auto, i have been reading through alot of posts and havent found any info. What other engine management do people recomend? Adam im pretty much gona do what you done, do the exhaust etc, get a boost controller, engine management and then might change the fuel pump or injectots later on down the track if they start maxing out. 200Kw would be just awesome, id have to look into it before i decide to go for 12 psi though lol. Cheers guys, hopefully i didnt miss anyones questions Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/192756-turbo-current-engine-put-in-a-turbo-engine-or-sell-and-buy-a-turbo-one/page/3/#findComment-3519983 Share on other sites
WYTSKY
unarmed_skyline : Nar, no compression, your right though, I should, but so far absolutely nothing wrong... and good on ya for helping him, my labour was a lil more pricey because they had never seen an underbody like mine... to sum it up they said half of it was like a gtr and half like a gts... every dump pipe I have added on so far...(the stock turbo one at first.. then the xforce.) have had to have been cut then welded back together to fit my underbody god knows why... but that caused a few probs when they were drilling for an oil line for the turbo and other crap.. I took it to racingline motorsport in cheltenham... cheap and yeh.. they are good. In regards to using a stock ecu... I would advise... you know why?? when I just had mine as a standard turbo for a little while, I got over 500kms a tank! (but I don't fang it at every set of lights) Also... can I say, at the end of it... when your baby is still urs and you dont have someone elses engine in it or other crap... its a good feeling so enjoy! As for me... these guys believe that if they can tune it right.. with a few added mods I can add on an after market turbo and have around 250 awkw... I'm sceptical, but its held itself really well so far, so who knows! -FIGJAM-
2 questions: Hows the project going now? And WYTSKY how much did ur conversion cost u roughly? i was thinkin bout converting mine, but i want something with around 300kw at the wheels so i think it would be a bit pricy for me. J3TR33
hey fellow NA skyliners.. this post is probz long overdue.. The Turbo Conversion is finnally finished as of two days ago. At first i was planning to do it myself with help from a guy on these forums. But things changed so i ended up taking the car to a mechanics joint near my area. The car feels awesome and drives so much better than a stock turbo skyline. Its running 8-9 Psi on stock turbo and stock ecu. Boost kicks in much quicker because of high comp.. and then kicks you back again at higher revs... kinda freeky... i member DAN666 was talking about this and its happening to me as well Lol... There was a few headaches with the water and oil lines... there was no provisions on the block so they all had to be taken from somewhere.. Il post pics up soon... and a dyno printout once i get it dynoed.. One problem i am having with is its that its surging... the stock exhaust isnt getting the exhaust gases out quicker so there is a build up causing the surging... so need to upgrade the exhaust and should be smooth sailing for a while... thanks everyone for their useful knowledge and info... and the guys at RVO Performance in Dandy Sth for the conversion... 342Four
for some reason the effect of VCT 'switching on' is felt more aggressively in a DE+T then in a DE or a DET i think its got to do with the higher compression+boost combination - its like when VCT turn on the engine goes 'yes' and kicks hard again.... Eug
i agree with ashley. the turbo, high compression and adjustment of valve/camshaft timing must dramatically increase the flow rate into the cylinders. would be very interesting to see back to back dyno graphs of the motor running with the solenoid off and the motor with the solenoid on. Vermin
Anybody done this conversion to an R34? Not that i have the money to do it at the moment but i am considering it. but wont be for a while one would assume it would be the same as doing with the R33 but just using the R34 parts.
