I have an R34 GTR (not v-spec) and I've got a cat back exhaust and am looking at getting the following dump/front pipe kit from nengun:

http://www.nengun.com/trust-greddy/extention-front-pipe

There are two options for the r34's though, one with a flange attachment and one with an exhaust temp sensor attachment. I know that the v-spec's MFD display's exhaust temp so I'm assuming that the one with the exhaust temp sensor attachment is for v-spec's and the flange attachment for non v-spec's. Could someone please confirm whether this is the case or not before I charge up the credit card???

Please don't flame me for the noob question but I've searched and found conflicting results. Some say r34 gtr's come with ceramic turbo's and others say ball bearing. Could someone please clarrify this?

Much Appreciated,

Stick

Cheers for that R31Nismoid.

Is this a good dump/front kit or are there better kits on the market? I guess the answer to that question probably lies with my goals for the car...

I'm after approx 300awkw for my first stage of mods as I can't afford to do internals yet. I've got a cat back exhaust but everything else is stock. I bought a boost controller yesterday and am waiting for that to arrive and am just about to order a power fc and the dumps/front kit but would greatly appreciate any opinions on the quality of dump/front kit. I've done a bit of research and everyone seems to say that split dumps are the way to go and to stay away from the hks dumps as they are just too short.

I had this exact Trust front/dump setup on my R34 GTR. I didn't really like it in the end. The quality is fine but its the logistics of using the Trust items which is the painful part.

It makes the engine a bitch to put back in if you fit them while the engine is out. If you're going to track the car, pulling the engine out to fit baffles in the sump is almost mandatory.

It comes too close to the firewall and you lose your aircon rubber outlet hose because it touches.

They make changing O2 sensors next to impossible on the car.

On my current GTR i've decided to ditch the whole split pipe idea and have got Tomei dumps. The quality on the Tomei items is an order of magnitude better than the Trust pipes. If you're only going for 300kw then split pipes aren't going to make much of a difference in my opinion.

As for your original question - you need the R34 GTR one without the exhaust temp sensor bung (11920301 BNR34) since you have a non-vspec. I bought the wrong ones originally and had to pay $40 to get the sensor bung welded on mine. Oh wells.

If you do buy these - my advice is to exhaust wrap the whole lot. The temps on the track can get really high back there.

Cheers for that R31Nismoid.

they are quite simply the best front and dump combination available for power extraction (up to 470+rwkw with T618z in the past), i have used them alot and they work better than both HKS and TOMEI equivalents... there are a few tricks to living with them but the results are well worth it.

Cheers for the input guys.

I probably should start a new thread but what the hell... To complete my breathing mods I'd like to put in some pods and was looking at the apexi super suction kit but I'm not sure which one to get as there is the standard one and the z32 version. I guess my question is in future when I have more power and I'm required to replace my AFM's can I just buy the standard super suction kit and put nismo AFM's in later or would I have to get the z32 version??? I'm trying to avoid upgrading the AFM's straight away as they're quite expensive and not necessary with the current power output.

BTW I'm going to go ahead and get the trust dump/front kit...

Dont forget to buy exhaust wrap then!

If you only want 300kw then you can leave your standard AFM's and buy the normal Apexi pods. Even if you decide to upgrade later you can buy Nismo AFM's and keep the same Apexi pods.

To be honest though, I had more than 300awkw and used the standard airbox and standard AFM's on my 34 GTR and was not running into problems.

Yes my AFM's maxed out but a competent tuner can work around it. Probably less than ideal but it works.

on a related topic... :D anyone used the hks dumps / front pipe on gtr ?? i was looking at getting them

Lots of people do. It's a fairly common choice.

They are really nicely built and lots of people make good power on them. What else do you want to know?

So is the advantage of getting the super suction kit over the power intake the fact that the super suction uses a hard pipe where as the power intake uses the existing stock pipe??? Sorry bout all the noob questions but I just don't want to get it wrong...

Where could I get some exhaust wrap from. I live in the N.T. and we don't have the facilities and resources that larger cities have.

What else do you want to know?

well because you asked :D

im looking at these 2. the second one is double the price and stainless. it also has the hotdog thingy on the left hand

pipe lower down ?? does that do anything special having it lower down ? just wondering which i should get.

if the stainless one is just for looks ?? id probs want to get the cheaper one..

thanks

Be careful when ordering the Apexi super suction kit as i have ordered mine from nengun in August and i still haven't received it!! They said Apexi has gone bankrupt and are taking their sweet arse time

I hope they don't take that long with my power fc cos I just ordered it yesterday! Would greenline have the same issues as nengun as they just order on demand direct from apexi?
