Redline Lightweight ShockProof®

A unique gear oil designed to lubricate racing transmissions and transaxles which see serious loads (not recommended for most syncro-type transmissions). It has excellent low-temperature flow which allows easier shifting when cold. May be used to obtain maximum power transfer in racing differentials which do not see high temperatures. Similar to a 75W140 gear oil, but with the lower internal friction of an SAE 30 motor oil.

Used in most road-racing differentials with moderate power and dogring racing transaxles.

Yes not recommend for MOST syncro-type transmissions as it says.

I actually got the guys at Motor Traders to check the Redline book for what they recommend for the RB25 gearbox's & this stuff is the go. Either that or SuperLight shockproof. The Lightweight is recommended if you do track work though.

Haven't put it in yet, going to be interested to see how it goes.

I tried Mobil 1 on my crunchy gearbox (R33 GTST) and when it didn't make any difference I put a tube of Nulon in which made a marginal difference for about 100km.

Just put in Redline shock proof light weight and had an instant improvement - still a bit notchy but not a single crunch yet after about 200 km and a track day.

penrite oils all the way. replaced mine about 2mths ago. still going like a dream. smooth, no grinding.

on extended hard runs, the oil stays about 25degrees cooler than what was originally in there. + i could used to feel the heat coming through the centre glove box.

penrite keeps it cool, well lubricated, and smooth.

have converted all my mates.

Which Penrite oil did you use, tossing between Penrite & Motul 300

I put Castrol VMX80 in rb25det box and it's not great. Doesn't crunch, but doesn't shift nicely - not sure if notchy is the right term.

I did have the car on stands when I filled it, but surely the small angle wouldn't make much difference?

Should I try a different oil, or put in a tube of Nulon G70?

Edit: Put some Nulon G70 in today. Will give it a few hundred km's and see how much difference it makes.

Have just done GB fluid change and I used Penrite SIN 75w-90, not sure what was in there be4 but first test drive the difference was noticeable and after the car warmed up I gave it a real pantsing, smooth gear changes and reduced transmission noise in the cabin-approx 2L used

i use redline shock proof, and put that in all the evos, gtrs and skylines i work on,on 1 particular gtr i worked on wouldnt get 4th without crunching,i changed the oil and put in redline and absolutly instantly out on the driveway it was smoother and and got 4th perfectly, also another gtr makes 550hp at all fours with standard gearbox and twinplate o.s giken with redline shockproof in it,and still goin strong for 3 yrs now,it could be the oil or could be luck,u decide.......
