Hi everyone,

I've searched but I keep finding different info on where the engine number is on an RB26DETT for an R33 GTR.

Some say near the gearbox on the bottom side of the motor, others say behind the turbo's, near the water pump on the inlet side?

I can't seem to find mine, and Vicroads apparently want to see them for registration purposes.

Does anyone know where an RB26 engine number is? (pictures would be great if you have any )

Regards,

Gareth

the vicroads inspectors would know mate. they would have a list of every car and where the numbers would be so dont stress..i took them almost 45 mins to locate my engine number on my merc van so yea they know were it is

its below the thermostat housing, which is where the bottom radiator hose connects to the block. U will need a torch to see where it is let alone trying to read the numbers.

One less reason to panic :whistling:. Do they have this list for imports as well?

R31Nismoid, thanks for the reply.

barney, are you sure? I mean that sounds different to what R31Nismoid said, this is for the RB26?

Anyone else have an opinion of where it is?

I will try looking again tomorrow, the engine number is written down on the roadworthy but I just want to double-check it for Vic-roads AND so when they try to find it we can offer some help (hopefully a little quicker than 45mins :P).

Regards,

Gareth

Where Barney says is basically where i am saying :whistling: (or vice versa).

He is just using somewhere else as a reference point.

Either way, its drivers side of the block, towards the front.

I have an RB26 in my car, and checked the number a dozen times

R31Nismoid, Barney, thanks for the replies.

Please excuse my n00b mechanical knowledge of skylines :(

I will add this info into the "what to look for when buying a skyline" thread as its pretty hard to find.

EDIT: found the engine number, its where you say it is on a small plate. Its very difficult to see unless you have a large mirror you can use, or you go right under the car to find it.
