Dude it's a skyline, you buy it for the name, the brand, the prestige.

I can't be f**ked measuring how much fuel my car eats,

it's like checking when the bus is going to come, not gonna make a bloody difference.

If you're that worried about fuel maybe you should catch a bus instead.

Sorry I'm a bit emotional today, think I might be pregnant :laughing-smiley-014:

Dude

Just buy the car man! (my opinion). I get 500 - 530 per full tank and i have some spirited driving. It is more than a car. It will engulf you, hypnotise you and give you sweet satisfaction every day! Fuel is not the problem, it's people trying to rip you with exe parts coz you drive an import.

i only get about 330 - 350 tops... getting 500 - 530 is very rare and quite suprising. actually seems odd for a skyline to get that sorta milage - I would consider that as being pretty good economy if anything...

Man how big is your tank????? bet that's not driving around the city...

Hey dudes

Yeah it's 70% highway 30% city, roughly. I have all stock except for fmic and 17" wheels. And it's auto. I have ngk iridiums, fram high flow filter, new ntk oxy sensor, got 100k service with tune. I also cleaned out my throttle position sensor and the throttle body. I use BP ultimate always, standard tank. That pretty much covers it. If however i am redlining it on every trip of course consumption goes up. I used the diy tutorial on this website to adjust idle slightly.

Happy times!

i'm new to this forum and thinking of purchasing a r33 gts-t skyline. i wanted to know what they are like on fuel and handling for a beginner, like rain, dirt etc. daily driving. cheers

If your thinking of purchasing a R33 GTS-T be prepared to spend alot.

on fuel.... if ur thinking about fuel economy better to buy a 2nd hand yaris (LOL)

No joke.. coz like when occasionally driving a skyline it's abt 2x more fuel used than a yaris

but note.. i don't have a R33 GTS-T but driven a R32 GTS4 with mods so it could be different

Probz ur car is/was imported from japan.. you would have to use 98octane, not the regular in petrol pump..... coz in japan i think.. their regular fuel is 98 octane and their premium is 108octane

so be prepared to spend a couple more cents per liter on the fuel.

with handling with a beginner.. don't do stupid things i.e burnouts and wear ur tyres.. as long as u have good treds on ur tyres and stick to the limit your alright

Have fun with ur skyline if u get it >_<

I now consistently get 400 - 450km every tank. Only run on Ultimate aswell.

But i do remember when i first got the car i could not get abve 300 for the first month lol.

The way you drive makes a huge difference.

theres lots of things that cause crap fuel economy

1) dead 02 sensor

the std 02 sensor will last around 50,000kms

after that it no longer provides useful feedback to the ecu

the ecu uses the 02 sensor to detect fuel emissions (or air:fuel ratios) and makes changes on the fly (to save fuel).

so if you have never changed it and the car has over 50,000k;s it might be worth checking - any mechanic can do it

2) state of tune

the state of the tune will play a big part. if its the stock ecu then there are defintetly gains to be had.

you can look at a remap, a piggyback system or a standalone and you will get better economy (power is a bonus too)

3) how you drive it

another killer for fuel economy is how you drive it.if you constantly load the engine up to bring it on boost its going to chew fuel.most cars are setup to be lean on light cruise but as soon as you load it up it will be rich as all hell

varying the throttle constantly will also prevent 02 feedback from work. 02 feedback needs a steady TPS signal in light cruise before it will do anything so if you keep moving your foot or accel->deaccel->accel->deaccel 02 feedback wont work. the best way to prove your driving is at fault is give the car to your girlfriend or mum for a week, i bet they can do 500km;s to a tank

4) what is a full tank?

some people call a full tank 45 litres, some say 50, same say 55 etc

as long as you keep using the same reference point its fine. the r33 tank is approx 55litres.

the most i have ever put in mine is 52 litres.

5) variance according to how empty u go

there is a big variance in how empty each person goes. some say near E is empty, some say at 1/4 its empty

some wait for the light to come on etc so each person has their own view of it . ive gone past E myself and it keeps going. there would be at least 30-40kms difference between just before E and going past it till the light comes on.

this enough to make a difference between the car doing say 340kms upto 380kms etc (my experience at least).

6) its a performance car

its not aimed at being fuel efficient etc but if you follow those simple steps it can be pretty good

my personal record was 542kms and it wasnt empty yet-from melb to sydney

7) fuel types

ive never seen any specific fuel type make a big difference in economy

some people swear by brand names etc but i would excpect around %1-2 difference in economy.

i dont see 100ron giving %30 more economy etc - same with other fuels

8) tyres

your tyres will certainly skew your results.

check your tyre pressure. 40psi on all 4 will give you the best comprimise between economy, traction, and control

lower pressure is great for grip and cushy rides but will have less economy

GTST has one 02 sensor in the dump pipe

GTR has two 02 sensors in each dump pipe

both cars have a temp sensor in the CAT but no 02 sensor

you can use a ford el falcon 02 sensor in GTST as its the same generic 3 wire type

GTR have titania 02 sensors and arent interchangeable

the evo has an 02 sensor in the CAT and in the dump pipe area
