Vic Autosalon, R32 Wit Kustom Front Facin Intake Mani

Recommended Posts

hey guys,

I was at Autosalon, and i spotted this, pretty sure its a SAU car or 'wang racing' that someone on SAU would know.

I was just wondering if this is a cut and shut and a rebore of the stock item or is an aftermarket item?

The reason I ask is that it might be a way to save some cash if it is just a cut and shut :whistling:

ps. sorry about the crappy phone pics

URAS unfortunately I cant dispute your generalised claim as I never just added the intake alone with before and after dyno results.

I did a heap of mods inc new turbo at the same time. The main reason was for unique looks and to match the R33 GTR FMIC.

If you look closely on the firewall behind it you will see my solution to the Coolant Air Bleed that needs to retained somehow when you fit another type of manifold.

The cost was about $1500 all up and all the build info is here Visit My Website

I think what URAS was getting at was that changing the entry position of a factory design inlet manifold can have detrimental effects on the distribution of air flow to each cylinder. It may not even be evident on the dyno but you might find that, should you have lambda sensors on each cylinder, the air fuel ratios will vary between cylinders. It makes it harder to tune as you only have an average A/F ratio coming out the exhaust when infact one cylinder may be at 13:1 and one at 11:1.

Does look good though :)

Yeah Dave I know where your coming from.

It may be interesting to put the manifold on our RB20 Drag Ute which has pyros on all cylinders running a Autronic to see if in fact it is no good.

Maybe we should put lambda sensors as well...

I did have a try at extending the port throats for torque but did not bellmouth them and left a fair bit of volume as well.

Also I paid attention to velocity going in after the TB to try to even it out a bit.

BUT, it was for LOOKS! :)

5 mins on a flow bench will show you what i mean, hardly worth swapping accross to another car, but hey if it was for looks it definately works well
