Lock_to_lock
Hey Guys. Im new here. Iv just put a series 2 RB20 in my r31. At the moment i have no intercooler, 3in dump pipe to cat, and standard 2in cat back. Now i know that this set up is terrible but it is only like this so i could get it running. Anthoo long story short. The car feels like it was making really good power for this set up, installed a boost guage and discovered its running just over 10psi. I didnt think that 10psi was standard boost for a 20. Does anyone have an idea to why is would be running this much boost? Any help is appreciated. Cheers, Josh Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193225-rb20-question/ Share on other sites
catchmydriftr32
my rb20 ran stock at 7psi until the dump pipe and exhaust gave more free flow, resulting in higher boost. with intercooler fitted should run 10 - 11psi. this is the norm. i found it strange at first also Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193225-rb20-question/#findComment-3468130 Share on other sites
R33Matt
Hey Mate, RB20's run on a stock boost of 10psi The dump pipe will increase the boost, which is why your running just over 10psi. Should be safe to about 12psi. You might wanna get a intercooler though, lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/193225-rb20-question/#findComment-3468239 Share on other sites
TTT
rb20 stock wastegate actuator spring pressure is 10psi. no boost controller required. it's 10 psi. since you got no intercooler in the works, it will make a little bit more. abu
Yep standard boost is 10psi, may go up a little with a turbo back exhaust. I have an RB20 with APEXi pod filter, BLITZ return flow cooler and stock everything else except fuel pump and I was running 12psi with no boost controller. Now I have a cat-back exhaust on, with a shitty cat and it makes just a little under 0.9bar (13psi) with no boost controller, but not much gain from the cat back.
