Just a quick question to settle an argument. A friend of mine has a fairly new v8 calais and Ive got a lightly modified r33 gtst s2. He seems to think his car would be way faster in the quarter, I obviously have to disagree. Having not been out to the track yet and not able to find any reliable information on the net about his cars performance its an impossable argument with out taking them to the track. I didnt plan on going until my lightly modified, (fmic, exaust, filter, plugs), got a little more edge and really after all this debating I want to make sure its not close. But in reality I figure right now it would be a close quarter and I think the line would win, you all would know more so please give me some information to end this argument. The hours of lookin at commos on the net is starting to make me ill.

Thanks

i would think your line would win.a mate of mine has a VN SS that makes 193 rwkw's and my 33 RB25DE stays head to head with it up to about 120 km/h (fastest weve taken them out to then backed off).my 33 would be lucky to make 120 - 130 rwkw's with the mods it has.

I vote thread lock on vs threads.

you said it yourself.

Sorry mate, wasnt tryin to stir anything up. Just figured you all would know more about the commos performance having been to the track so I was looking for an educated opinion. Wasnt saying anything about illegal activity, didnt realize there was a rule against asking about what would more then likely perform better.

you just compared two completely different cars to what the thread is about.. well done.

rather than squabbling like girls, take them to the track and find out.

well put it this way, a lightly modified r33 should beat a brand new f6 typhoon, a hsv gts, and the new cobra... (claimed 0-400m times of 13.9, 13.7 and 14.5? respectively) at least thats what i recall from wheels mag.

calais? please...

im interested in what tyres youre running and what rwkw you get. i had 180rwkw with 255 bridgestones and they seem to provide excellent traction. against a fairly modded wrx i only lost half a length on the launch and then left him for dead once i grabbed second. a calais will have no traction at launch and will also weigh a shiteload more than your line. no contest i say.

havent been down the strip but id say 180rwkw is good for about a 13.5?

lol get up on the wrong side of the bed today did we? your a clown mate,if you dont have anything constructive to say dont say any thing at all!

Funny how such a simple question can get hairy so quickly...

lol. This is why vs threads get locked.

No offence taken mate, your a noob so you obviously didn't know.

In my opinion, before it does get locked, your cars will be similar and it will come down to the driver launching and shifting etc. If you mis-shift he'll have you, if he mis-shifts he'll just be even easier to beat.

Are we talking LS2? Supposedly most of the SS series with the LS2's hit 13.6+ - so it would probably eat you.. with light mods like that you might be looking at a 14 flat with a good run.. i've seen one of the new r8's munch a gts-t running 220rw, those ls2 commo's aren't exactly slow

actually i retract my statement...well to a degree.

say if its a vy-vz calais they push 235 kilowatt. with your upgrades say u have 200. (flywheel)

if you can drive you should just take him.

remember they push alot more torque so it would be close

A newish holden v8 (non hsv) is still under 200rwkw's a stage 1 nodded 33 gtst without turbo upgrade will be similar at the treads, but 400 kilo's lighter...

But only just, champ. Any VZ/VE Series V8 would whip the arse of a stock GTST.

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
